So today I finished my exams and was looking to get drunk and celebrate another year of post secondary. My friend wanted me to go to Keswick an small town just North of Ontario to party small town steeze with her. I figured I'd go, if nothing else, I could observe and learn a slightly different culture than I'm used to. So I'm there and the music is very top 40 and crap, therefore I'm not dancing and just chilling out with my beer. Some dude decides he's got a problem with me and says "you got a problem with me.... (he continued on in white speak, but I didnt' really understand what he was saying). So I responded. "no man, I'm just chiling here drinking my beer. How does it look like I have a problem. You need to chill and get over yourself." He responded my punching me in the face. I couldn't respond because I didn't have my boys with me and he obviously must have had his close by. So all I could say is "you're joking me." Anyway, I don't actually hate every white person from a small town, but it would take lot to convince me to go to a hick bar in the future.

I think what annoys me most is that my boys weren't there to have my back. If they were, shit would have been done in a second. I go to hip hop clubs all the time where my white friends are intimidated to go to, but if they came there with me, I don't think they'd ever have to put up with the shit I put up with today.

holy shit, are you serious? That is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sorry you had to put up with that.
I live out in a big hick area and know exactly what you are talking about. Most the parties around here get taken over by hicks and turns out to be one of the stupidest things ever. Usually it's just a bunch of guys drunk, no women, and everyone trying to fight.
The stupidest part of it all is that almost all of the hicks that I have met won't fight alone. All of their friends will get involved and beat someone down.
I've had a couple of run ins, and my brother got jumped by 5 hicks and the police did nothing.

I've been in similar situations before. As much as you want to be passive, you need to assert yourself to not be a pussy. The girl I was there with thinks it was about her. I think it was about colour. We all agree that he was a fucked up drugie.

from living in a small town for most of my life, ive learned that drunk hicks that are stuck in the town forever going nowhere in life....they like to fight, there doesnt need to be a reason for drunk hicks to fight..it just happens.

sorry to hear you got smacked. i agree the get over yourself thing was probably was what put the nail in the "let's hit the new guy" coffin. I'm a hick and my friends are hicks and really any decent dude is gonna respect you fighting him 1-1 especially if hes hits you first. therein i'm hoping the guy that hit you was decent enough to believe this too. if he was a real hick then probably.

here's how a fair fight works- 2 guys (or girls) fight, no one jumps in and the fight stops when they are either both too tired, one is knocked out or the one is clearly in control and the other one acknowledges that and they stop. in these situations the two fighters often become better friends after. they don;t desire to kill each other or get their boys and stomp on someone's head. they just want to settle some issue between them.
so if you go to the country, be nice to people and most times they'll be nice back.

Once again, I was not trying to have a mature conversation, I was drunk and pissed off when I made this thread. And once again, I said I don't actually hate all white people from a small town and I even made an appology for the inferred generalization that I made while I was in a bit of a drunken rage.
This guy wasn't looking to start a fight, he was looking to start a fight with me. What I don't know is if it was because I was coloured or if it had something to do with the girl I was there with, or maybe a comination of the two.

My roommate is from a small town, she's pretty cool. I also dated someone from a small town, okay, she was kinda weird, but a nice person non the less. I think I can probably say that I have had more good experiences with small town people than bad ones.

Funny that i'm living in small, hick little town in Canada. However the only problem i have right now with anyone, are these two girls. They drink everynight, monday nights included, hell even sunday mornings. They always want to fight other girls, and they hate me because i told them one day they weren't worth my time. So now, even tonight, they never hesitate to call me and play they're immature "pranks" where they pretend to be someone else then call me gay and hang up. Then they brag it up to eachother and drink even more. I get frustrated until i realize that whereas i am not of small-town background, i have a future. They will be stuck being the town drunks, never growing up (because they are my age, however have been acting this way for years)

That should say I had no reason to believe that his friends wouldn't beat me... or something like that. It's a double negative and extemely poorly stated. What I should have said is that I had every reason to believe his friends would have mauled me.
As violent a person as I am not, if the environment was more in my favour, I probably would had wailed on the guy. He was twice my size (I'm a pretty little guy), but I was pretty drunk and pretty pissed at the time and when I'm drunk I can take a pretty good hit. I know this not because I've been in fights, but because I often encourage my friends to beat on me. Yeah, I don't konw why either. The point is, fighting him would have been a really bad idea.
