its like 7.5% alcohol. but the reason it says do not swallow is because one of the chemicals in it will turn your teeth gray if u ingest enough of it. at least thats what my dentist told me.

its the wrong kind of alcohol. If my memory serves me correctly, and it has been a while since i took any kinda chemesty... We get drunk of of ethel alcohol. C2H5OH i think. The alcohol in mouthwashes is the same as surgical alcohol or methal alcohol. CH3OH. (i might have that backwards though) Methal alcohol has entrily diffrent effects on your body. You dont get drunk off of it. plain and simple. its a diffrent chemical and it reacts a diffrent way with your body. Mostly just makeing you realy realy sick.

it was most likely the acetomenophen (tylenol) in robitussin that made you sick, that is one of the reasons its in Robitussin.

But why even consider drinking Listerine, are you that hard up for a drink? If you don't have much money go get a couple 40's.

if your in fear of a DUI, keep listerine in your car and if the cops pull you over, just say you had some mouthwash because of the high alcohol content. and ethanol is the drinking alcohol, not methanol

yes, the Dextromathorphane (DXM) is what makes you trip, however, the makers of Robitussin added acetomenophen (tylenol) as a way to try to prevent people from robo-trippin, the idea was that people would OD on tylenol, get sick, and prevent too much DXM from being absorbed by the body.

And the idea that the alcohol in mouthwash is not safe is retarded. Yes there are multiple types of alcohol, some of which are not safe to drink, however these would not be used in a product such as mouthwash because no matter what, a small amount of it will be absorbed into your bloodstream through your mouth, and you're basically guaranteed to ingest some of it.

the reason you can get drunk on listerine, is becuase it has rubbing alachol in it. you can easly go blind from that shit, that is why it has warnings on it.

Do not try this! I was an alcoholic for many years and ended up practically homeless and living with my family who would not let me drink. So, one day I decided to drink mouthwash, Listerine. This left the most disgusting taste in my mouth and a strange burning high in my chest. I kept it down about 10 minutes then threw it all up in addition to the rest of the contents of my stomach. Still had a gross taste and burning for the rest of the day, as well as nausea. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Even if you’re desperate!
