who's working the steps on NS?

anyone?

but really, anyone here go to NA AA meetings? how are the steps going for you? I'm just starting my journey and would like some newschoolers support.

i'm part of AA, I guess I am kind of defeating the anonymous part by admitting that, ever since I had to go to the hospital twice in a week for alcohol poisoning

Hi Lauren, I'm an alcoholic too, I have problems.

But i don;t go to real AA, my friends did, and they just said theres lots of old alcoholics that are fuckin crazy.

alcoholism isn't exactly "cool" lauren, don't go bragging about that shit it can get deadly and it's not funny

dont get me wrong i mean i do binge, but im definitly not an alcoholic an i can control the shit ... fine line between that and addiction

gmack do you really thing i'm bragging? i'm an alcoholic. I'm in the steps program. I got out of rehab a week ago. It's obviously not a joke to me.


anyway I am working step 4 right now it's really been hard so far. the whole idea of a moral inventory scares me shitless.

does anyone have Liver cirrhosis? When I got blood tests when I moderately drank the doctor said my liver wasn't doing sweet, so I doubt its in good condition now.

i don't know exactly what's wrong with my liver but from excessive drinking and an overdose I damaged it really bad and piss blood and shit all the time now... it's fucked up shit, considering i'm young and already have scrolls of things i've done wrong to myself that are starting to catch up with me

when I was 18, a judge( who was my buddy's dad) made me go to court ordered alcohol councilling, and it had drunk addicts too and shit. I cut out of every one of those meetings to go to the beer store and get booze for the pre-drink before the bar. What can I say, it was on thursday nights and I was in college. All I have to say is that drinking real heavily is something you kinda grow out of. Don't get me wrong, when I set out to get shittered, I do, but it's just not a real frequent thing anymore. In fact I only really drink at all maybe once a week, and that' any amount of booze be it a bender or a beer or 2.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is good luck, but don't think that you're some useless piece of shit cause you drink, and counting on your friends to get you off the sauce... well my friends are more of a drinking influence than anything else, so good luck and find your own path

we had a lecture on alcoholism in my pharmacology & toxicology class, 10% of people who drink become alcoholics and out of that 10%, 10% develop debilatating disease. So thats only 1% of people who drink develop cirrosis, cancers, exc. Thats not that bad

We pay our debt sometimes.

yeah i've never needed counciling, the only thing my friends and i used to have rocks wars at school, then one kid got hit in the back of the head and had blood all over his arm and neck and we told the nurse he tripped and then one kid got nailed in the forehead and had this huge bump and the teacher saw it happen and he ratted us out and we all got suspended

what are the steps exactly? i know they have to do with like, addmitance, acceptance, appoligisng and such, but what are they exactly?

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol--that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7.Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

yeah what the fuck man, thats so gay, why the hell would they make it all so damn religious? do the judges send ppl to AA thats like that? because thats fuckin fucked dude, i would not go to that at all, turn myself over to god, ha, thats such a fucking load, the government cant do that...
