just compare the cliff to the person jumpin it, that should give you a rough estimate

the best way to do it is use your ski pole as reference, its hard to judge the size of the cliff using your body, because you are usually tucked or flailing...as long as one of your poles it a close enough angle that it is perpendicular to the camera, then it is a good constant to use as a measurement...this of course only works if you can get a still and if image is zoomed.

good point. being tucked and stuff could mess your perception up if you dont include it and stuff. a pole probably works best

it`s always more jumping it than judging it

no, no...i thought you meant judging it while looking at a picture or video, not before you leap...if you're gonna jump a biggie and haven't spoted from below then I don't know...do the good ol' snowball toss I guess and estimate, but if you start thinking too much is it even worth it?

I just use the skier's body and estimate it at about 4 feet because they're tucked. Give or take a few feet but it doesn't matter because nobdy said I just hucked a 17.6 foot cliff. It just goes up in increments of 5 and most people round up.

I'd say those clips you uploaded are probably like 15 feet and 25 feet.

I have the same problem, same with distance, and hight acheive off kickers. I know if I can do it, but judging the distance is very tough for me.

yea i always think of it in basketball hoops to. I hate it when you see a really cool picture but no skier or anything to tell how big or small it is.

i think it always looks smaller from the top or even the bootom but when you are in the air it seems bigger at least with cliffs that is.
jumps and kickers for me are the opposite.
its probablly that falling sensation.
