yeah well musicians since the beginning of music have been taking licks from here and there, not on purpose necessarily. for example, all along the watchtower is the same chords as stairway to heaven

Actually, I listened to it and it doesen't remind me of Jimi. Heh.
And Zeppelin only stole on their first album... if the chords are the same in all along the watchtower and stairway (out of the top of my head, I can't recall that they are), it's only because there are only so many chord progressions in so many keys that still rock, a few are bound to be the same here and there, even without being "inspired".

Speaking of Jack Johnson; i swear every girl i know is in love with him. I'm not saying he sucks or anything but i know i've heard a lot better musicians in that genre. But then again i'm sure he is talented and is deserving of his position so i don't want to take anything away from him...

Jack Johnosn has the best life ever. Lives in Hawaii, was a pro surfer throughout highschool, moved to the mainland for univeristy. started making surf videos which all became cult classics because there so good damn good. was then told by ben harper to start making music because at the time he was just playin for his buddies. Music career takes off and hes set. now he jumps on the quik silver indies trader here and there surfs around the world, writes music ad helps direct some music videos while managing a kick ass record label. what a cool guy

^^^ Very true that girls are in love with him. Mature, intelligent chicks. So if you play guitar, learn a few of his simple strummed songs and enjoy the effect of playing around chicks. Just a very small advantage of playing guitar.
