Replying to To buy or not to buy? That is the question.
ok. Heres the deal. I have the money to buy skis this year, but I am considering whether it is worth it or not. I will only get 1 week on the snow this year, the same goes for the next 2 years probably. In the 2005/2006 (shit that sounds fuck ages away doesnt it!) I will probably be able to ski a whole season for the first time, and so I may well want to buy new skis at that time. So if I were to buy skis this year, in 3 years I would probably want new ones.
So, putting aside your overwhelming skiing addictions, do you tihnk it is actually worth me buying skis now, if i will only ride them for no more than 5 weeks in 3 years? Ofcourse there is the intrinsic wonder of actually owning your skis and not renting them, u know wot i mean, just *having* them. I dont know if this is reason enough to spend loads of money on skis though...So wot do u all think? do i buy, or do i wait?!?!? Also, if i bought skis this year and wanted to sell them in 3 years after they havent been used much and would be in good condition, do u think i could sell them easily or not?
While im here i may aswell give you my options that i can buy. Sorry the prices are in sterling so ive converted them at the current exchange rate into dollars for u all. So here they are:
1080s + 1080 bindings: £360 / $557
Scratch FS + FS bindings: £375.00 / $580
K2 Enemy + M1400FreeW bindings: £425 / $657
VPro + bindings: £430 / $665
Vlegend + bindings: £390 / $603
so those are pretty much my choices. Im 5ft11, 143lbs and Will probly be riding perhaps 30% on piste, 50% off piste, 20% park, or something like that, i dunno. Sorry bout the huge post, but what do u think about it all? wot should i do?!?!
thanks guys.
