ok so i have a shit load of homework to do for thursday. im a lazy ass slacker so i held it all off until now well blah blah who cares, heres my question. i have to do a report in outdoor ed involving back country skiing. i have to contact people and get their opinions. i was just wondering if anyone here wants to anwser a few questions and get my out of this shit. well anyways heres my questions:
1. do you think it should be mandatory to have avalanche training before going back country skiing?
2. if you say no to the question above (please do, everyone says yes) then what should be mandatory?
3. do you think people should pay for their own rescues?
4. have you ever been in an avalanche?
5. just say some cool sounding stuff so i can quote you and put you in my report.
anyone who answers these questions is my hero. please help me.

1) Yes it should be mandatory because the people pose a risk to others as well as themselves.
3) Yes otherwise u have ski areas limiting what knowledgable and accomplished skiers can ski. Take France for example, in France you can ski whatever you want but if you get stuck or hurt you're gonna pay for your exspenses. Also, having ski resorts pay for your rescue enocourages lawsuits against ski areas and as scott schmidt said, 'ppl suing ski areas should be shot'

4)yes, it was minor but it scared the shit out of me. iwas in Chamonix with my brother and a guide and we were off-piste and i took a really hard turn and this slab of snow all of a sudden slid out and it was like flowing up around my waist like water and it knocked me over, really scary

5) Skiing in the backcountry is an inherintly dangerous sport. If it was mandatory to take a short course in order to ski there, the number of casualties would be reduced. In this day and age when skiers and snowboarders are going bigger and thus becoming more dangerous, It would be only sensible to make rules that allow for safer conditions.
