I have to write a little bit on who I think is the most important person in US history after World War 2. Only I dont have any idea who it could be. It could be a president, social leader, almost anyone...except elvis.
Thank you.

Important doesn't have to mean he did great things, it just means what he did had significant impact.

lyndon johnson came in after jfk got shot, passed civil rights bills (ended segregation), faught world disease, poverty, set up the urban housing commision, developed medicare, revised social security, aided crime prevention and control, steped educational funding and set up enviernmental conservation commisions. he also increased stepped up the space program and slowed bombing in vietnam to start peace talks. he won his first election by the largest margin of any pres. to that point and then didnt run a second term. def a good choice

He escaleted the Vietnam war, although, I have proof that JFK wasn't far away from doing the same. There's a reason why Johnson didn't run a second term, because he knew he would have gotten the snot kicked out of him.

I'm Canadian, so my US history is pretty bad, but I'm pretty sure that the Cuban Missile Crises was '62. Wasn't JFK shot in '63? Either way, I'm pretty sure that JFK was president during the ordeal, not Johnson.

no i didnt read what you were talking about, but you were saying that he almost started a war with the soviets. but he really stopped the commie bastards from attacking us from cuba. or thats what that informational video i watched in 6th grade said...i think..

No I didn't.
And your informational video is BS. Khrushchev was placing nukes in Cuba for the same reason US had nukes in Western European countries around Russian borders. Soviets weren't putting nukes there to start a war, they were just trying to even the playing field.
The war almost started during the Cuban Missile Crises when US ships tried to intercept the Soviet ships carrying the nukes to Cuba. US told the Soviets that if they crossed a line they'd be attacked but the Soviets didn't stop until the last second.

kennedy was shot in 63 and theres debate about if he was gonna step up us involvment or bite it and walk away. his own advisors debate it to this day (hence kissengers books). i didnt say lj was pres during the cuban missle crisis cuz jfk most def was. after good ole jfk was shot johnson sent more troops to nam hoping for a quick victory and when he didnt get it he slowed bombing in the north and started the peace talks with ho chi min. who knows if he woulda won the election or not we wernt there but his peace talks were continued after his term. lj was post ww2 and his social programs are still running exacty the way he enacted them today. so he shaped american domestic policies and helped end vietnam
