What exactly is Pollard's Gorrilla style, i just love the way he skis and everyone talks about it, so what is it

it's the way that pollard skis, and soon to be the way every lollipop ski grom is gonna try to ride. You might call it style, I call it AFTERBANG

alot of people do it. mainly tanner, its when you have your arms down past your knees when you are skiing. your all hunched over and shit. the key to perfecting this is to make the gorilla noises, and people who have it mastered canbang there fists on the ground and wail on there chests while they are going really fast.

If you havent made the connection yet Pollard was a snowboarder and Tanner's idol as a snowboarder.....The 'Gorilla' style is something that alot of snowboarders do that has bleedover into our skiing style.

You mean like the 360 spread eagles all these guys are doing. You should really try to have your own style and not copy someone elses, like Pollard.
Ya, he has a sick style that he came up, why dont you guys try to come up with your own instead of trying to copy Pollard.

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

if you ski into jumps like you down down a steep powder run then you probably look much fucking stupider than the way half the pros do.(like tanner, cr, pollard, dash, rinfret, turpin, should i go on...?) when you are skiing straight into a jump the best thing you can do is be completely relaxed and ready to pop and start your rotation. if you pull your head out of your ass and realize that the way they ski into jumps like that is really comfortable and halps you stay smooth for your trick, then maybe you would understand. it is somewhat like the kid above said, we get it from snowboarding. notice how snowboarders have a really wide stance and how they hang their arms and crouch a little bit. this is what makes them so smooth.

there is also something to be said for AFTERBANG as jeremy mentioned. i agree that working so fucking hard on your steez coming into and out of the jump without focusing on the trick and the overall smoothness of everything is pretty ridiculous, but the pros don't do that because they are good. the problem is, now we are gonna have kids working on skiing into the jump like all those guy, then flailing into orbit with a 1440 pole swing. fuck that.

oh and what i meant to say at the end of that:

you should have a certain way of skiing for every aspect of the sport. skiing down a regular groomer, skiing bumps, skiing steeps, skiing pow, hitting jumps, riding rails, riding pipe, etc etc. don't just saqy how stupid someone is for skiing like that in one area. yeah they would probably look dumb doing that in a big mountain line, thats why they DON'T do that when they ski big mountain. pay attention...

tanners like that off the snow also, i saw him a few times in town in whistler skateboarding and hes all hunched over, and he sits at a table with his chin two inches above the surface.

Hey Joker Chill. Style is different for everyone and a relative concept. Don't act like you have a monopoly of the knowledge on skiing, I ski hard and aggressive every run, every where, every time I ski, and that's my style. None of this change it up every run. Everybody skis differently and we need to accept it, there's no ONE set way of skiing or going off a jump properly, or down a big mountain run. Ski the way you ski, not the way tanner does, Cusson, Auclair, whoever, cause otherwise the sport will never progress.

joker, you are the man...all it is is like joker said...you want to be as confortable as possible going off the jump and landing...this style is a combo of the snowboarding wide stance and the comfort of going off a jump stable, balanced and focused (in a wide stable stance). It makes your tricks look smoother with less hesitation. About Jon, you bet your ass if you watch he takes off of jumps with a VERY wide stance, then pulls his legs in, as where Tanner and club doesn't.

dude its super easy to ski like that, and it really helps when you set up for a jump. you go faster cuz your hunched and you feel more stable cuz your feet are farther apart. and to the personw ho said you can't ski big omuntain like that. look at jon Olsson is he awesome at post and same with pollard. They all ski a style similar to that in the BC. its actually easier to make turns with your legs a little wider apart. I guess thats a bonus from fat skis

for sure skiing with your legs apart is the way to go for almost everything, its the way racing has been going, and of course it is for big mountain, but having your arms down by your knees like tanner does wont help i think, but for sure a wide stance is good, you get more edge control and it alows you to get your knees into the slops letting you power your ski better, the only place for skiing with your legs togethor is moguls
