Army test

i take my army test on monday, and i gotta decide what i want my mos(military occupation specialty) to be pretty damn soon. i need to decide between infantry, patient admin, cavalry, special electronics rapairer, mp, or radar logistics. which one. cast your votes. im headed to georgia in a few months to get my ass drilled in basic, while banking 1600 a month, tax free, for my active duty pay. sweet.

radar logistics... personally I wouldn't want any hands on combat anywhere in the world. One of my friends leaves sometime to train to be a sniper.

it would be swweeeeet ass to be a sniper, but the ait is like 24 months long, and i dont have 20/20 eyesight, so that rules me out right away. im leaning towards special electronics repairer, because that was, id at least get a gun, and get to go shoot shit out on the field. i cant wait to shoot m-16's, rocket lauchers, anti-tank weapons, and throw live grenades. it'll be sick

my dad was an mp during vietnam, but i think you would probably enjoy something else better...he always had to fight wild prisoners and things like that. anyway, good for you dude! cheers!

i saw something on tv about sniper school, and they take like 40 per year, and its like a reality show, they line you all up, and kick people off every so often until they have like 20 left.

^ dont go with tanks. im talking canadian army (which yes, is a joke), but my cousins a tank captain or something, and he has a few points a) They're uncomfortable as hell, as in incredibly, incredibly uncomfortable, and more importantly b) they're always a target, and with modern shoulder launched rockets etc...apparently the average life expectancy for a tank once combat is engaged is less than a minute. Literally. Everybody goes for them. therefore you, in combat, in a tank = toast. and you, not in combta, on whatever the fuck you call you not-active duty people, = so uncomfortable.

so yeah. words of wisdom. holla.

choose radar or electronic repair. I say those because they will give you the best training for when you are OUT of the military.
Face it, no one wants to be in the army for life, its a crappy career that has you moving every 2yrs. Sign up for the 3yrs contract, maybe the 7 after and then get out and use what you've learned toward a good civi job.

hey i deffinitely agree with the electronics repair you will get alot of real world training that will be benifical when you get out. Even if it is not something that you want to go into as a career it will give you a gret paying job that could help you get through college later

maybe the life expectancy in a canadian leopard I tank is a minute, but something tells me american tankers are a little better off in that area.

but yeah, i would definitely say electronics, the best training for after your service.

you actually make me sick. You're worried about being able to "shoot at shit". By shit I assume you mean people, because in the field ,thats all you're gonna be shoooting at. People take killing way to lightly now, even when THEY are doing the killing. Some soldiers are so desensitized when they come back its scary. But if you don't dessensitize yourself, you're not going to be able to do your job if in infantry.

i dont understand how anyone can be excited about joining the millitary. But if i were you id do the radar or the electronic repair, because like has been said befor it will give you valuble training that you can use when you decided to leave the millitary. When my dad was 18, he joined the navy and was trianed to be an electrician. When he was 23, he left the military due to very tragic and unforseeable circumstances. But when he left he was easily able to start a career as an electrician, specilizing in fire alarms, and he makes alot of money right now because there arnt alot of people who can do what he does. So when you make your decion, dont bais it soley on what will be cooler or most fun, look to your future.

my dad's a nurse anesthetists in the army with a field hospital and he was never around any sort of fighting, like he could hear it goin on and stuff but he was never in it. anyways, even though he was never in any combat he still came back with problems. and one of his friends went home for his 30 days leave or w/e it is and his wife told him that they were getting a divorce. he ended up killing himself a month or so ago. so have fun!

Being a sniper isn't that sweet. First, you have to sit around and wait in horrible conditions for hours, until your target shows up. Second, most of the time if you are caught alive by the enemy, they trade you back for one of their own, but if you are a sniper or spy, they kill you right away, because you don't give their people a chance to fight back, so they do the same to you. It's not as exciting as it sounds

cavalry is kinda like scouting, using cool shit like heat sensors, and crazy cameras and such. ya our azfab's are 3 hours long. its like another act. yay. not.
