Crochet Question: Brims

ok so i made two earflap type things, one on top of the other and put a piece of cardboard in between and connected them, but the brim just kinda flops down. how do i make it rigid and stick out? should i double up when making the earlfap thingys or just find a better thing to fit inside? thanks

I think just make it thicker Cameron, maybe make it tighter where you attach it to the hat.
