I have noticed that most people don't know what freestyle skiing is. I know this is a duh, but it sorta hurts me everytime I hear it. When I'm talking about it, this is how the conversation usually goes.

me: "ya I freestyle ski."
person: "You mean like snowboard?"
me: "um no i do it on skis."
person:"You mean like those short ones?"

At that point I feel the pain. I then explain about the more detailed aspects, but my dignity is panned a little when i hear people are more familiar with skiboarding than freestyle skiing.

i just say ski but ive heard other people saying there was a difference between "freestyle skiing" and "freeskiing".

tons of people dont understand why my skis dont fit in one section of the gondola ski holder thing. They have no idea that people ski backwards sometimes. it's a miracle!!!!

Jesus crist yes, this happens to me every time I ride the gondola, I fear for my skis cause on windy days there movin around in the snowboard cart and im like HEY YO, so you have to directly and specifically tell the people loading the skis to put them where they fit.

haha i got that at easter dinner to. i was talkin about goin out west and my aunt asked if i was into snowboarding, i said no i ski. and she said something about those short skis are cool, and my dad was like ya the shorter the faster, or something stupid

the same thing happend to me the other day. my mom was showing proberty. and there was all these pipes laying around on the property and i started to talk about how sick they would be to slide. so the client says oh you must snowboard. it makes me so mad.

Yea... well think about how i feel when i tell people i freeride unicycle.

I always say freeski. That sucks though... people thinking you snowblade when you freestyle ski... man i'd be so embarressed. Thats such a disgrace, if i heard people say shit like that i'd be like "You better buy some kneepads cuz an ignorant little bitch like you is gonna be suckin a tonne of cock." ^you tit freeskiing refers to everything except racing and batty carving aka extreme shit, moguls, freestyle (park, pipe) and probably skarachuting! freestyle skiing is a subsection of freeskiing.

i thinks its actually kinda cool that alot of ppl have no idea about freeskiing. When people do shit like get mad at you for takin up 2 spots on the gondola rack, you know your doin somethin that not tht many other people are doin. Its like listening to a band before they sell out. I honestly hope freeskiing stays the way it is, with no1 knowing about it and all. Only a select few do it an its cool.

^Yeah dude that is totally they way i feel, i could not have put it any better. Its that feeling that people watch you and say wtf since when can a skier do that. You sit there and ppl look at you all funny like ur an alien or something. But i would have to say in the past year skiing has become way more mainstream, kids at my schol say "armada they make skis right" (after looking at my shirt or something) i was pleasantly suprised the first time that happened but now most kids at my school and i think elsewhere have seen or know something about the world of newschool. oh well now ppl will start getting only core companies to differentiat themselves from the mainstream.

Freeskiin is gettin a bit more mainstream than it was like 2 or 3 yrs ago. Perfect example: I had some kid that my frend (skier) tell me that Tanner hall had an interview in sports illustrated for kids a while ago. I guess the real question is to keep freeskin low key an only have the minority of people doing it, or bring the attention of the world to freeskiin. Pesonally id like to keep it to the select few but alot of ppl want to "let the world know" about our favorite little sport

I think the situation is good as it is now. I like how the sport is kind of "underground" and "rebellious".
Inlines/rollerskates, I have to say, are slightly gayer than freeskiing :p

But all that is my opinion, of course there are two sides to everything. If freeskiing was more commersialised, more money would be in the sport. More comps, richer skiers, more parks, more twin tips etc... There are good and bad sides.
