don't go to colorado college if you wanna study journalism even though it's the best school in terms of "academic excellence." since it's really small, they don't offer journalism classes and such. i started out at a small liberal arts school and it just pissed me off that i couldn't take journalism classes. big schools like CU Boulder (where i am now) usually have decent journalism programs.

Ft. Lewis in Durango is the shit. Not to big, Good school, State funded, and 20 minutes from skiing.

ft. lewis is a joke. if you want a good academic school, DU and CC (Colorado College) are the best. Mines is also a great school, but more geared toward math and science (engineering).
all these schools are within 1.5 hours of great skiing.

Not every body is fucking rich kid! Have you ever looked at enrollment costs at CC or DU...probably not because your parents paid for it all. Ft. Lewis is a GOOD school regardless of what your prissy ass thinks.

I go to DU and its got a quick drive to the mountains, its right by the highway. Denver has got a lot going on real close, but CSU is pretty sweet. Its closer to summit county driving time than anywhere else. DU just won their 18th national D1 ski championship. We got a huge ski following and a really cool alpine club that does trips all over (steamboat, silverton, jackson hole) and its got a pretty hot ski culture. DU is where its at.

first of all, settle your hick ass down.
second, i have looked at enrollment costs at many colleges and i realize the costs associated with all of them.
third, although my parents did help me with a SMALL portion of my tuition, i paid for the majority of it through an academic scholarship, which is something only those of us who are lucky to be smart are able to receive.
basically, i was just stating my opinion of the academic levels of CO colleges. ft. lewis may be a GOOD school, but DU and CC are GREAT schools. then again, college also has alot to do with what you actually put into it and i don't disagree that many rich little bastards that go to a school like DU don't deserve it.

Western doesn't really have a journalism program. There is an Environmental Writing emphasis, but it's more of an ENV Studies major.
I really like the small size of Western and it's great for what I want to do (Ski Area/Resort Mgmt Major w/ Business minor). I've been to schools with 15,000 students for a couple semesters and the classes were too big and impersonal. Here you know your professors on a first name basis and you see them out in the community and on the hill. Classes are usually 20-25 students and you are forced to participate and learn much more than 300 student lecture classes.

Wasted state is not a good school. Seriosuly consider DU. I go to Mines though so I know shit about most liberal arts schools.
