Building a ramp to build speed for rails in the summer?

I'm interested in building a in-ramp to get a run at some rails that I can hit in the summer to practice.. what would i need to cover the in-ramp with so my skis will slide and where can i get it? I think it would be dope to do rails in the summer off season, just need something to cover the ramp in so I can build speed to hit them. Any ideas? Thanks guys

put the rail at the bottom of a natural dirt hill. alot easier. a huge platform is cool and effective and to build it it takes time and money. buuuttt...make thick triangles out of wood as the frame. and cover with plywood.. that is a large triangle. to make a standing place, pretend your making a giant rbox really high up. that is square shaped. and reinforce the hell out of it.
pretty sick

I get that part, but I'm wonder where I can buy a surface to slide on like that snowflex stuff they use overseas in the UK on their hills.. or if theres something else I can use other than that as an artificial snow surface. Remember, I'm trying to grind rails in the summer at home and I need a material slick enough to allow me to slide down it to gain speed to hit the rail.

do you have any hockey arenas within short driving distance of your house?
if so, just build a normal wood drop in, and pile a carload of snow that you can get from the rink on the bottom of the drop in, and make a jump out of the rest of the snow. so your drop in would be similar to the one that level 1 productions uses for urban sessions in high 5. that would be so pro.

look at the pics in my profile. build a big ramp, make it steep and put indoor/outdoor carpet on the top. then hose it down and put dish soap on if you need it

Do you just go to an ice rink and ask them for snow or what?

Take it from where? Do they put excess snow in some room or something?

They usually either dump it outside or some rinks have a pit underneath where the zamboni is parked and they dump it in there.

That green carpet stuff is indoor outdoor carpeting, very cheap. Get it as think as you can or it will wear down fast. Hose it down a bit with water, but not too much you dont want the carpet to suck the water up. Ramp out of wood works fine for me. Make it as steep as possible. And if possible get 1 or 2 dumps of snow from an arena.

I also use the rink idea. There is a rink two houses away and i just load my pick up with all the snow every other day.

get the green carpet and instead of using water spray it down with silicone. it is a hell of alot slicker than water and it lasts pretty long
