Seth Pistols

I just got back from Vail/Beaver Creek and while i was out there rented a pair of Seth Pistols. THey were insane and now I really want a pair but I ski east coast. In my experience they were pretty good on the hard pack but i was mostly in back bowls and in trees where there was a good amount of powder. If anyone has a pair how would they be on hard pack and is it worth buying them (I can probably get them 1/2 off)??

wide skis are super stable in park. If you skies em on hard pack and liked em, get em. they aren't gonna be as quick edge to edge but it's all about big GS turns anyways right?

they kick ass on hardpack and in the park as well. like the man said, fat skis are super stable. switch landings is amazingly smooth, and rails are a joke. i would definitely pick up a pair. i have one pair center mounted for the park, and am picking up another longer pair mounted father back for the pow and hardpack. i highly recommend them.

Pistols are fucking assualt vehicles, i mowed down so many persians when i borrowed a pair last month.

^I know you said that they are good on hardpack, but what the guy who made the thread has to keep in mind is that your hardpack is not comparable to EC hardpack. People in the west barely know what real hardpack is. I was in Big Sky, Montana last month and everywhere everyone was bitching about the ice and the snow drought. I, on the other hand, nearly got a boner just from looking at the snow. People from the west do no know what a true "bulletproof" day is like. The Pistols may be great on the west coast groomers, and even on the EC's groomers (I haven't had the pleasure of riding them), but you should keep in mind the people giving you reccommendations.

Bingo. Good post. I love my pistols to death, but they suck hairy balls on ice, and you'll probably be subjected to it often. If you do decide to get them, prepare to be a) treated to a wonderful skiing experience whenever there's new snow, and b) fighting your skis the rest of the time.

I live in Vermont and ski my Pistols almost every day I'm out. True, they suck on ice and I've found that the tails will wash out on you super fast. But other than that, I frickin' love the things. As long as it's not bulletproof boiler-plate, they ski very well. I ski in the woods, groomers, bumps, everywhere. I've got PE's too and I hardly ever touch them anymore. So I guess this is a good review from someone who skis Pistols on east coast ice

PE's will hold a better edge on ice because they have a stiffer flex than the Pistols.

i live on the ec and i have the seth pistols they are good for everything infcluding certain ec hardpack they are sick although they are not that good for ice but don't go on ice and spank the bank instead
