In all seriousness, the fact that you have to traverse and hike at alta is awesome, if you're not a lazy bitch you can ski freshies all day because beaters arn't willing to hike or traverse more than 10 feet. Beaters are also scared of bad weather so when it's a blizzard at alta and the slopes are practically empty it fucking kicks ass. Every touron at alta skis the one groomer underneath sugarloaf and stays out of the good lines. Alta has awesome backcoutnry access (believe me I hiked to wolverine cirque from grizzly yesterday and it took hours of skining as opposed to a 30 minute bootpack from catherines) It snows at alta a little more than the bird and it's also higher elevation. Dont get me wrong I love the bird and I love alta too, my only gripe on alta is the older employees there have a very euro-elitest attitude. If you have twins they automatically look down on you. The bird on the other hand have really cool patrolmen, and most of their employees are young, shredders that are friendly.
Whats wrong with hippies? being at a resort where you can almost blaze freely is radical, and you should try talking to some of those hippies they have some pretty good stories.
I thought Alta was pretty cool, just got back fom a spring break trip. All the new snow was sick!! I couldn't find hardly any natural hits there though which was kinda sad, im sure there are some there but it didnt seem like people scoped out natural features.
Some of the traverses there are horrendous, monstrous bumps, haha. At the end of the day we finally found a kickass long run with some natural features to boost off. That big bump right by the chair at the bottom would make a sick roller hit, me and some buddies were trying to get it set up on a pow day. We were starting to clear it, just needed a better inrun, it looked like a dope spot to build a hit.
^^ No natural features? you must be joking. Even after the fact that the 172" base has covered over 50% of the natural features at alta, there is still a shitload to be found.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

That's awesome that you guys have been able to spend so much time together the past few months, sharing what we all love - Skiing and newschoolers. - nut
like stated above, you either love alta, or you dont i mean ya there are a lot of hippies, i have never came across one of them being rude to me or anyone around me, they seem to be nice people, *well im sure theres some assholes every now and then* but to categorize them as all elitest *sp* is unfair, i usually ride at snowbird but i think alta is a good break from the rush and rich attitudes of a lot of the tram riders.
ive got another version of the pole dangle, its pretty funny too, gets cold when i do it on the lift tho.

What's the hippie comments? That term is stupid to begin with, you're just trying to talk shit about guys that dedicate their lives to shredding, and aren't worried about appearances like some of the East Coast HS/college pricks that are no doubt posting in this thread. When you talk shit about the locals, you're talking shit about Cattabriga, Minecci, and many others that are pushing this sport harder than you can imagine.
Don't be bitter because you only get to come out here for a week a season.
