hey, i was takin off my bindings, (to put on my new ones) and one of the screws is stripped its the last one i need to take out so im pissed lol, how can i get a stripped binding screw out?

You could take a drill and drill out the screw (use a bit just a little smaller then the screw)

Or take a smaller screw and screw it into the top and try to bring boh out at the same time.

I would try thr drilling out.

butif the screw is stripped how would the drill bit catch?

If you live in canada, or have access to sears, or canadian tire, on of the 2, they can sell you a drill bit set, that digs into the screw with the right pressure, to get that resistance. That or, keep your old bindings, or you could try to rip it off. If its foam, less wories, if its wood, then ure almost screwed.

I am not exactly sure what your situation looks like, but I would try this: unscrew all of the screws except for the one that is stripped. Then take a large flat screwdriver or two and stick them under the binding, prying the binding up from the ski, DO NOT attempt to simply pull the binding out this way. With someones help, while prying up on the binding, then unscrew the screw. this should avoid trying to drill through a screw, which trust me, isn't easy, especially if the screw just wants to spin.
I hope this made sense, and helps a bit. Try it.

do not do what scratch said you'll fuck up the core. you best bet is to take it to a shop. they'll have it out no worries and if they wreck you skis they'll give you new ones. but yeah I worked at a shop last year and that happened tons. if you want to do it by yourself what you do is take out all the other screws. swing the binding around the screw a few times. if you have a hack saw try to slide it inder the binding and cut off the screw then with plyers grab the remaining piece of the screw in the ski and twist it out, dont pull it. thats what we did anyway and it worked for all like 1000 that we did. so try it if you want.

dude, here is your solution.

go to the hardware store and tell them your problem. There is this stuff you can put into the stripped portion of the screw. like glue. fill it till it is flush with the top, then stick the screwdriver in it. Let it set. This fills in the strip and makes a brand new screw mold that is exact to your screwdriver.

works like a charm.

Um, I'm not sure what you are talking about rockymontain, about wrecking the core. Cause you should never try to mount a new binding back into an old hole, especially if that hole is stripped. You should plug all your old holes, and drill new ones. Then you get a much more solid mount, especially if you have a high DIN setting. Take your ski to a certified technician.

first off, i would suggest that anyone attempting to remount bindings should just bring it to a shop, it will save you time and anger.
now, heres what to do about that striped screw. i have 2 solutions that work great. first one. go to sears and get a ez out bit set. they are shaped to bite into any surface and then to twist that surface out. they work great.

My next solution is to go and get a dremal tool. take a cutting bit, and cut a large slot in the screw head. if you do it right, it will look like a flathead screw. then just take a flat head screwdriver and screw it out.
eather way works, but jst save yourself time and give it to a shop to do.

yeah buddy I know that, but if you just pull out the screw, instead of twisting it out, it can disturb the rest of the core. you break all the core around the screw and then your core can become brittle and crumble. mainly a problem with salomons and atomics due to there densolite foam core. I know your not suppose to but screw back in the same holes, you just misunderstood me.

OH! do you mean that the screw head is stripped?? In that case, it is a different story than what I suggested. use a easy out tool. I thought he meant that the core of the ski was stripped, completely different. It makes sense now. But still take it to a shop.

ya, that happenned to me, if u used a phillips head, its not the right scrwdrriver, take it to a shop, gart took my stripped screw out, it is similar to a phillips screw but not the same, they have like a special screwdriver for special screws

instead of having a cross headed chape like a philips it has 2 crosses one that is big and on that is small. and the go in between eachother on big one small one big one small etc.
