this is good news for future ski movies because with only one standard production companies can switch to the new High definition standard without worrying about their standard dying out or not getting enough support.
if there were two standards people would have to choose one of the standards and might have their customer base divided into two.
Luckily that migh not happen and production studios wont be taking a risk when switching to a new standard.
