What do you think about the new Frances the Mute album? I think it kind of falls apart. Perhaps it's too prog for me to like with just a few listens. If listened more, it would prolly start to sound better.

deloused was better in my opinion. frances the mute has some really amazing parts but you have to like search through all those minutes of noise and stuff which i just dont understand enough to appreciate

yeah but once you listen to all of Frances the Mute and figure out the story behind it, it's way sicker....but yes, I do agree. DeLoused was better

frances the mute isnt that good compared to their other shit. the 1/2 hr. song is like nothing until a few minutes in. i think champange supernova is long. overall, TMV is great, but frances is ehhh

I listen to differen't music because popular music is a bunch of teenagers bitching about their girlfriends and/or horrible lives, even though the've made millions off their crappy CDs.
inderground bands like The Mars Volta actually have something to bitch about,(not so famous) but don't actually bitch about anything, just because they are cool like that.

Frances the Mute has it's highlights, but overall it doesn't compare to Deloused. I'm going to see them at the Fillmore on May 31. Should be dope. I want to see Sparta in Boulder soon, but it's during the week and I can't miss class. It would be really cool if ATDI got back together just foe one tour.

^Haha I know. I was expecting a bunch of skinny white bald guys with glasses kinda like that guy from REM. But then I found out that Omar Rodreguez-Lopez was a black/latino guy with a sick fro, tight pants, and huge glasses. Kick ass.

Oh and anyone who likes The Mars Volta should def check out "A Manual Dexterity: Soundtrack Volume 1" a solo album that was made by Omar Rodreguez himself...I listening to it right now and it's kick ass.

Mars volta is so sick. Deloused is so much better than frances the mute, but its still worth buying(I got it for $9). Mars Volta was just in atlanta last firday for a concert and it was sold out thanks to ticket scalpers who bought the tickets early and sold them on ebay for $170. Anyways, a local radio station had one of those party giveaway things and my family went to it to try to win a free ipod, a bunch of pairs of tickets, and $100. No one was there, so I tried to win the free ipod...me against one other guy, so I had to chug a cup of hot sauce faster than the other guy, so i won the free ipod. Moments later, my sister won a free pair of tickets. Sick right? I'm so pissed though because I had a really bad migraine and I started throwing up the hot sauce and I felt like shit, so I couldn't go to the concert. My mom ended up winning another pair of tickets, but Damn, I didn't get to go. I got a free ipod thoguh.



Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j

they are absolutely sick. i loved deloused...still getting a few more listens in on frances before making a real decision. i saw them a while ago right after deloused came out and they played the entire album straight through just like it's meant to be heard...so amazing. i assume most of you know the story behind deloused??

anyone ever heard the EP Mars Volta put out a while before Deloused?? it's sick as fuck too.

i love ATDI too.

^^well yeah, if you wanna get a little more detailed. Plus Frances the Mute was inspired by a diary found by a friend of theirs that passed away (he found it working as a repo man). So for their next album (Frances the Mute) they decided to base it around their dearly loved and missed friend.

yeah, and isn't frances the mute and actual mute girl(maybe not literally), but she was raped by a priest(hate this part: IM Catholic), and he got really nervous, and threatened to kill her if she told anyone, then she got pregnant, so he killed her. That's what my sister told me.

Their stories are kinda messed up, but the music is incredible. I've listened t nothing but fraces the mute(in one car) for about 2 weeks now.

A Woman that gets an abortion ("Cygnus, Vismond Cygnus"), and then her husband dies of lung cancer from smoking ("hes got infested black lungs" from "The Widow") and then she goes to a church to pray for forgiveness (L'via L'viquez) and then she decides to "off herself" ("Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore"), then goes to hell and suffers through all the stages of hell. (Cassandra Gemini-31:42 wow!)

I like Cassandra Gemini because it remixes all of teh albums songs into one song, but they add a demonic twist to it and it sounds awsome.
