Traveling with skis

i dont really think you need bubble wrap, but i usually just pack all of my clothes into my skibag and that provides plenty of protection.

get a padded bag

as long as you are bagging your skis and checking them for the flight, i'm sure you will be fine. i've been flying my skis out when i come to school in CA and i haven't had any problems. I was covering the tips and the bindings with cardboard and then bagging them but the last trip i just put them in a ski bag (which is nothing fancy, no real padding, just a zippered ski bag) and they were fine. skis are meant to take a beating and they will more than likely take it worse on the mountain then they wouldbeing checked for a flight.

if the issue is you don't have a bag and that's why you are using bubble wrap and/or towels...you'll be col with that too. wrap will cover up your skis and keep them together...and it will prolly protect them from getting scuffed and scratched (if that's something you are worrying about). all in all, skis are built (or should be built) to hold up on the mountain and they should hold up fine when you're flying.

ya, paddingt shouldnt matter too much. one suggestion: carry on your boots if you wernt planning to because if a bag is lost, you can rent skis, but renting boots sucks.

and yeah, if you don't have a bag...you may just want to get one. you'll be better off that way, no question.

The only part that can really break are your tips and tails. Take some cardboard and make a wedge out of it, so it fits inbetween you tips and tails, then fill it with clothes, so it is stiff. Then you'll be good

last time i flew the 'forgot' to load my skis.... so my advise is carry on your skis with you.

just buy a padded case, you wont need bubblewrap and stuff, throw down your skiing outfit in theyre if you want.

i really hope u werent being serious with that comment.. unless u have snowblades, there is no way u can carry any type of skis on

its a joke....... but no they really did forget to load my skis from seattle to boise, they did get them to me the next day, just a stupid hassle.
