Replying to Canada making my life hell

Ok so I have a season pass for Whistler and am already to head out to Canada, and then whats this? Canadian Immigration. Good lord, all I want to do is come to your pretty country, ride for six months and bugger off home, but no, lets make it nigh on impossible. I alledgedly need a return flight out of North America, some silly amount of money in my account and will only get issued a 6 month travel visa on arrival in Canada if the airport people are having a good day and like the cut of my jib. I can not stand the thought of being turned back so close to my Nirvana. If any body has any info, help or experience of this - could you please help out.
