The 1080 boot is called the Foil boot for next year. There are two models one is the adult boot sizes 25.5 and up which is the same 85 flex and has the space frame (honey comb) technology on the side of the boot, which allows more energy from your boots to be put into your skis. (it has been used on the world cup in all boots for many years now).

The other boot is the Jr Foil which looks identical just doesn't have the spaceframe a softer flex and the sizes are like 23-27.0.

They are still making the pro model next year it is a grey and blue an orange boot but is identical to this years space frame pro model.

The Foil boot also has a new liner which is the liner that you would have previously found in the x wave 8,9 and 10 boots with the memory foam. THey are even thinking of integrating the fur liner that they used this year in the womens performa 7 in to the foil next year.

Dan you're the man! That helps tremendously; thanks. I was speaking with the girl at Tremblant, and well, between her accent and my staring at her (she was quite the attractive lady) I only got so much.

I think I'm going to go for it deifnarely. I thought about getting this years, but with little to no improvements it seemed from last years version with the exception to cosmetics, I did not (money also played a large factor, or my lack there of better yet).

Just for confitmation purposes though... I'm 5'9" 125lbs and have chicken legs. I ski park, and have a 4E foot (that's extremely wide. Shoes are only made to about 2E, and 4E is bigger than that).


From what I've beeb told is that this boot is quite wide (which is good) and is a softer forward flexing boot. The boot I have right now (Dalbello 7.4 Custom) is soft until you do up the buckles tight and than it doesn't flex forward what so ever. Because of my shinney ancle area, I have to do them up a lot or else I get a lot of foot sliding espically under landings (which hurts). Will these boots do the same? Better yet, will these boots suit me based on what I'm looking for?

They may help but they deffinitley are not a extremley wide boot with a foot as wide as you are saying there is one boot that you should look into, The company is Strolz they make boots in widths they are not particularly a park boot by any means but the will fit your feet correctly, your boots are the most important part of your setup theres no sense in getting a boot that doesn't fit your foot. Dabello boots although they are prettly low in price run fairly wide.

The Strolz boots will cost you a bunch but they will be a boot that will last you a lifetime which I am sure you are not thinking of right now. They make a boot that really hasn't changed since they first started making them. the boots themselves look somewhat ancient but they come in width up too 4E.
I'd check them out although tough to find I am sure you will find them somewhere. I know of two locations that sell them One is in MA. called Strands ski shop the other is in Killington VT, Basin ski shop. You should look to be spending around 7-800$ for these boots. But give the Foil boot a try if they do not end up working for you try these Strolz boots out. Ive been fiting boots for a number of years now and people often get boots much to big for them jsut in order to get the width right, your skiing will improve so much if you just get a boot that fits your foot lenth wise an width wise and I think that you'll find that these Strolz will work out for you well.

THe other option is foot surgery to make your feet narrower.....
They sorta just cut off the side and sew you back up. Ask your physican for futher details.

I think I'll pass on the foot surgery idea. Though interesting, I'd rather have uncomfortable feet (it's also wee-wee wee-wee gross!)

The $7-800 range too is another BIG hurdle. Granted they will fit my feet nicely, I've been using custom footbeds to try and cheat by cradeling my foot closer together by having it wrap up on the sides; so that when I stand, it doesn't go flat footed as badly.

The Foil boot though, I am able to get at some sort of pro deal, or cost or something. I know a guy who knows a guy situation, but regardless, the price is definately right (I could probabaly get 3 for the price of that other boot).


Never the less, I'll still look into it.

If your feet are that wide, have your bootfitter blow out your toebox some, and then shave the top of your toebox down a little, as blowing out the sides will cause a decrease in toebox height.

i have wide feet and ski nordicas or sollys. it's personal preference so try them on first before you need $$ bootwork.
