Big Mountain Freestyle

instead of big mountain competitions, i think that there should be big mountain freestyle. Before the day of the comp skiers should be able to go and build jumps off of cliffs, and rails off of cliffs in order to perfect their lines. that would be sooooo crazy cuz you could like 810 off of rail of off cliff. Skiers could also do big stuff like cork 7's off of cliffs into pow.

its not that easy. big mtn would be so hard to keep a controlled environment. and they'd have to rely on a lot of snow if they wanted to have a safe cliff drop. it is hard im sure to drag a rail onto a cliff drop and make it safe. just not realistic, although i've seen it done.

Big Mountain comps have set dates, most of the time they are bullet proff conditions so guys ski hard, fast, fluid, and confident in what they can do. Some big mountain comps the organizers do allow for kickers to be built and takeoffs prepared during inspection runs, usually because there aren't many viable takeoffs cause of lack of snow. All depends on conditions.

this guy i work with is setting up a comp at squaw you do a big mountain line on mainline pocket then you get two tables and a rail in the park down below
