I think american football is one of the best team sports there is. I went to an ASU game today and the first 3 quarters were boring but the 4th was great

football is great cause you can rock people hard and its all good, there are cute cheerleaders, and a big play in football, like an 80 yard punt return has got to be the most exciting thins in sport to watch,

-If people don't want 'Posers' in their sport they should quit skiing and take up knitting. I highly doubt that anyone 'Poses' as a knitter. -Jibtech

Physical.

Im sorry, but how many yards do you run before play stops? Like..5? You rest for 30 seconds... then sprint another 5 yards.
Soccer (which, incidently, is the original 'football'... as you use your foot, on a ball.) players run something like 10 miles in a game, and most of that is sprinting, with very little rest.
Rugby players run a similer distance, but they have the tackling and body contact of american football involved as well. Without the big ass mofo pads. I won't get involved with things like triathalons, and endurance events..they just speak for themselves as far as physical exertion goes.

Mental.
While it does have it's merits, there are plenty of sports which have equivalant mental aspects to it.

Tactical.
Again, many sports have equivalant or better tactical aspects to them. Take chess for example.

While it can be a hard game, I think you'll be hard pressed to claim it as the most physical, mental and strategical game, in the world...

No seriously, I dpn't even play it but football is the best Americn sport..Violence, speed, agility..all in one sport. It's perfect.

I went to our school's big game last week here in Cleveland and 20-25 thousand people came just to see a high school game but it was great.

Ive played organized football for the past 8 yrs~pop warner and High school~~and most of the stereotypes of players-especially lineman are that they are dumb~~I can tell you that while many stupid ppl play football you have to in great shape physically as well as mentally to play~~

while football is not as physically demanding as doing a triatholon or as mentally straining as playing golf it is a very demanding and tough sport to play

I quit football this year cause it is gay to play. By the way lacrosse is way more phyiscally demanding. You never stand around you are always running plus you get slashed with titanium sticks and it is still legal. Football isn't shit compared to lax. Trust me ive played both.

Quite clearly, golf is the most demanding of all the sports. At practice, I have to hit at least 50 balls. And then putt. And then chip. It is some grueling shit.

you want real sport violence just watch or play rugby, they don't wear pads and the guys are just as big in rugby and they can take a much harder hit

obviously you've never played rugby, i've played both and i hit guys and got hit alot harder in rugby than in football, although stateside the football scene is mad, and i love watching it on tv(both NFL and College) but rugby still owns them, one of the linemen for the vikings(eventhough they suck) played rugby in NZ

you need to watch a game of top class rugby. Mauris are the largest race of people on earth and they devote themselves to the sport. When you have a 300 pound man called Jonah Lomu bearing down on you (he runs the 100 in 10.8) to crush your every little insignificant limb then you realise what the definition of hard as fuck is. And there are far more injuries statistically in rugby too. I played to a pretty high amatuer level and I got off lightly with two broken collar bones, 1 broken arm, one head fracture, broken nose 6 times, fractured ankle, broke every finger but my left index, ripped patellar knee ligaments, separated achromio clavicular joint, dislocated both shoulders 4 times, fractured ribs and 9 concussions. But I'm hard and I still ski and don't need pads.

Clearly, rugby is a far superior sport. Strip away all the glamour, and pit an American football team against a rugby team of equal skill, and the rugby players would walk off the field at the absurdity of it all while the football players struggled to catch their breath.

i think rugby is a tougher game but it still is a fact you have sholder pads and a helement to use you are going to hit harder

rugby players play with 2 40 minute halves with a running clock...now thats called being in shape. only time they stop the clock is when they have to bring the stretcher out onto the field to carry someone off.

yeah I agree about golf, I played football for like 6 years and it just wasn't getting me physically in shape enough, my junior year I made the golf team and WOW! now thats hard core.

anyone knocking the physical demands of football is a fucking moron and has obviously never played. I'd like to see them survive 2 weeks of 2-a-day practices, fuckin dumbass

i kinda agree with gmram on the lax thing but i still like football... damn fucking MIAMI!!!! shitheads man! oh, and rugby might be a tough sport but after getting knocked as silly as you do in rugby the first few times you ever play, i dont think you really notice... jk man, rugby is quite hardcore and i would be quite the hypocrite cause im wearing my DC shoes rugby shirt right now...

right on. this year i got my shit rocked every day during 2-a-days. i play line backer,and it's the coolest thing to kick the shit out of somebody, and not get busted for it. anybody who says football is gay probably hasn't even taken the time to get off their ass and try it.
