i have a problem with mine. when i put a disk in, it doesnt read it, it just stays on the screen with the dots circling and has browser and something else on it. when i go to browser it says dick read error. this happens with everydisk and is pissing me off. does anyone know how to fix this or has this happened to any of you before?

its happened to me..its a pain in the ass..mine is all dusty and thats probably the reason..if you know how to fix it...TELL US!!!!!!

i work at an electronics store and fix shit like that and im telling you youre fucked. If simply cleaning the lens doesnt work then your optics are just shot and it is likely cheaper for you just to buy a new playstation than to order that part and get it fixed. the original playstaions had that same problem, it sucks. maybe you could yell at sony about it and they will send you a new one

There was somehting about the original batch of Playstation 2's. The laser would die after a certain time of use. If cleanign it doesnt work. Start bitching to Sony, professionally tho, and try to get them to replace it.

yah I had this problem too for a while then it went away. When I called sony they told me that I had to caliber some part of the system computer and then it would work fine. ITs really easy to do this. Turn on your PS2. make sure there is no disc in the playstation when you turn it on. When it goes to the screen that has two options 1. browser 2. System configuration, at that screen press triangle. Now you should have another list I'm not sure what options are in this list.. but you have to go to the very top of the list where it should say console. Highlight the option called console and press triangle. Now you should have a screen that says diagnositics. Make sure that the diagnostics is off. Now resart the playstation. It should work now. If it doesnt repeat the above procedures (sometimes it will put the diagnostics back on even when you resart). If this doesnt work, well then you are screwed. Did you get a mod chip installed on your PS2, sometimes this can also cause errors.

i had that before. it's because some of the first ps2's that sony made had faulty laser eyes within the disk drive so it just burns out, much like a light bulb would. contact sony, and they will let you send it in to have the piece replaced. and while it's gone, go buy a new one at circuit city (great return policy) and use it until you get the old one back, and then get your money back. that's only if you are too desperate live without it for a week or two.

the lazer becomes unaligned. sony made it so it goes out of alignment (they could have prevented it) and you pay for them to fix it. it happened to mine.

WE just unscrewed mine and dusted the eye and the whole insides with a Q-Tip dipped in Rubbin alchohol. It worked fine after that!!




Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.
