anyone else out there (i'm mainly talking to my fellow Canadians) feel left out because they don't play hockey?

I've had parents of friends look at me and treat me different (in a bad way) than other friends because I don't play hockey. Hell, I can't even skate, well no, i can skate fine, but stopping baffles me. And I can't shoot the puck worth shit.

Anyone else feel that they are being shunned by society because they don't participate on their local hockey team?

hockey.... I mean. it's a good sport and all, but I get no respect because I ski and don't play hockey. when I was 13 I had the option, ski or hockey. I actually get called 'a gay skier' by a few of my cousins (because they don't have a clue about newschool - they're hicks) I just say that they all change and shower together and let the coach pat their ass when they score a goal... I used to never get driven to ski hills too, because my 2 brothers had hockey games/practices on saturday and sunday. I'm bitter.

oh i know what you're talking about! Just because i am canadian doesn't mean that i have to shoot a stupid little rubber disc around a rink.

I've noticed it even more when i got together with my girlfriend. Her entire family is hardcore hockey and baseball, two traditional sports. Both her brothers play hockey and baseball, and her sister plays ball and my gf used to as well. They get mad at me when i say i don't like hockey!

Not only that, but she has only ever gone out with hockey players and shit like that...it's kinda funny!

but yeah...hockey = boring in my books.

I had the old choose between hockey and skiing thing two when I was in Nancy Greene and Hockey and practice switched to Saturday. I made the right choice.

haha i never played hockey either bro. all my friends did when i was younger, and lots still do. i am kinda sad i dont have any team sports to play, but hey i skateboard and ski. my friends laugh and say go ski or go skate and you know what i do? just that then i laugh at them kuz i have so much fun. dont feel left out dude. canada full of many sports, you dont gotta play hockey... and if u really wanna get known move to the yukon and represent it for skiing in the olympics... im sure no1 lives there anyways.

I played hockey on a team a few years, last year I played on a team was Grade 7. But I do have to say that it is damn fun.
I dont really play it anymore cause skiing is better, but it IS fun to play. Best team sport out there in my opinion. And I still love the leafs even though they piss me off season after season. But ya, skiing is way better anyway, so it was a good tradeoff.

ya hockey is fun and all to watch once in a while but too many people are hardcore into it

like i know this little bird chested kid who spend like 1g's on new equipment just so he could think he is a big man and play hockey

mind you this kid is like 5'9 and 105 lbs (matty you know who it is)

I have played travel hockey since i was 6 years old. i live in new jersey but i have games in washington dc and i also go to tournaments in Canada all the time, it does get old with alot of practicing and stuff, it also can be a social life killer. i would so much rather just ski but i have a love hate relationship with hockey. this is my 9 or 10 year playing travel and I also play highschool. it can get old and i have debated quiting travel like every year so i could do what i want and ski more.

i used to love hockey and play it...... but i fucking sucked at it. i was thinking about playing hockey this year but i decided to find a way to go up to blue both sat and sun

my friends parents dont really hate me for not playing hockey, but they really cant be like 'so how are you doing on your mute 3s dez'
