Highest lift?

Ok this is another one of those stupid 'biggest whatever' threads... but yea. cares.

Maybe not the highest, but definatly the friekiest i've been on is the Red dog lift at squaw. God knows how high it was but we didn't have the safety bar down and I was shitting myself.
The cable car goes pretty high too.

What gravity?

i dont know but some of those godelas (sp) in europe and shit are high..i heard abotu some plane clipping the cable and the plane and the gondola fell and everyone died

the highest ive been on is the 7th heaven lift at whistler right before the end it goes up some cliff and its pretty high at one point, and brighton has a high lift too and we got stuck at the highest part for like half an hour that was cool

i think i read somewhere that the longest was the tram that goes up mont blanc at chamonix...

...i also think i might have read somewhere that the highest (altitude, not height above the ground) is in boliva, but i could be wrong (do they even ski in boliva?).

it would suck to be afraid of heights - like doug. it's funny shit being on a lift with him, I thought he was going to piss his pants in Vail... it was really damn funny.

Red Mountain for sure has the nastiest. Fernies white pass quad is scary when yoour like 400 meters from the top. Kicking horses gondula has some scary part's but your in a gondula so it's not as bad.

chamonix has some fucking high lifts, i know the highest altitude lift in North america is at Loveland, they are having a whole discussion on that over at the powedermag forums

if anyone has been to whitecap mt in michigan, that one chair connecting mountains is high as hell and its just a plain old open two seater....damn its like 200 ft striaght up from flats

white pass doesn't go very high at all...people jump in places. And last winter they closed part of a run under the lift because you could practically touch the bottom of peoples skis..

when your on storm peak goin down to the mardi gras tree if the chair stops the fuckin chair drops like 25 feet then swings back up...scared the shit out of me...morning side gets pretty hight at one point and its pretty windy with no bar.

the peak chair at whislter is pretty huge, it has all those parts where terrain falls away cause the poles are at high points in terran, seems like 200 feet up or something, whatever

-If people don't want 'Posers' in their sport they should quit skiing and take up knitting. I highly doubt that anyone 'Poses' as a knitter. -Jibtech

the old peak chair before it was changed to a quad, now that was some scary stuff, but the quad still goes up pretty high

has anyone here fallen out or jumped off or a chairlift, i fell a couple years ago, well i kinda jumped too but i payed for it (landed on my back) i was about 11 years old too. i always here storys about ski patrol chasing people that jump too... also what happens if the lift is totaly stuck, do they just use gravity and slowly bring you backwards in the chair or ladders, anyone gotten like perminalty stuck?.., i got stuck in stratton for the longest which was only like 45 minutes. feel free to share some good stories.

I was on this one lift it was soo friggin high, up on the blackcomb glacier, i mean at points my feet were so far off the ground I almost shit myself. think they called it a t-bar, the t stands for terror!!!

the highest in elevation ins like a tow rope thing you strap yourself onto in bolivia at like 17,000 feet and it is only open in their summer and like 200 feet of vert. Loveland is the highgest in NA i am pretty sure doesnt it reach 13,000 maybe 12,000 though. And yea that quad going up to the glacier at whistler when you are going down and it is a big drop down onto rocks. Around here in WI nothing tall except whitecap.

lineski1260 - when a lift breaks for good they have this crazy ass pulley system that they use to lower people. It's got a rope that goes over the chairlift cable, and a platter thingy on one end. The other end is held by someone on the ground. They raise the platter thingy, and swing it to the people on the chair. If you're on the chair you have to scoot it under your butt without scooting off the chair until it's all the way under you. Then you scoot off the chair and they lower you. It's pretty crazy because you end up twirling around a bunch as they lower you.

i've jumped off the lift before... twice actually. once at the top of the pitch on clamity (that hurt a little - landed back seat and slammed onto my back)... than n the badlands chair just before the fence (around the bottom) 'cause the chair was broken and i was impatient so i just jumped than hiked up the hill.

and dez - i dont' know - the dude's messed up... it's fun to scare him on high lifts though. good times.

at superpark 3 (2001) we were riddin this chair they had open, but no one was running it. near the top we were yellin at the people on the chair ahead of us to jump off, so this guys just slips off the chair, drops 25 feet doin a 180 and lands perfect tranny and straightlines the hill. that was some funny shit

I was on a lift at Mt. Holly MI and it actually goes downhill for awhile. Its not very scary at all but it was crazy.

omg you ppl have big mountains, i jump off the chairlift every time i go skiing, with no powder under us sometimes, its liek a 10 foot drop, haha shows you where i ski

highest ligft iv been on is the tram at snowbird. as for a normal lift, the cross over once to mt ellen at sugarbush is really high up in some spots.

oh yea, and for lowest lift, the one at sundown if prolly like 5 ft above the ground on some spots.
