mounting Bindings yourself...?

how do i go about doing this, i have been wanting to learn and i think i might start doing this at my local ski shop...thanks.

you wont be able to do it until you're 18... you have to get a certification type thing from each binding company.

Don't do it yourself, and let the shop do it, I think you void warrenties if you do it yourself

yea im pretty sure you will lose your warranty. Anyone know if it is actually hard to do though?

wait till you're 18?? Certificate?

I worked at a shop when i was 16 and i was mounting bindings. The owner just showed me how to do it, and then when i finished he was required to inspect the binding himself to ensure that it was done properly. You don't need to be certified to drill holes and screw on a binding....it's pretty simple.

To get the certificate thing you have to go to a clinic offered by the binding companies. They teach you how to mount them and set the DIN. Then you take a test. In the US they make you be an adult, because if you work in a shop and screw up, so someone hurts themselves, you can be sued.

It's not hard to do on your own, but it does kill your warranty, and if you screw up it's a pain to have to have the old holes filled and the like.

yea, so what does line do then casue there binding is advertisd to be simple and 'do it yourself', whats the deal with there waranty then, casue the ski also comes predrilled, what if u fuck up putting the bidning on or switching the binding from ski to ski... anyone know if there waranty will cover that, or if tehy can be liable?

It depends on the shop and if you're in with the shop guys. I've seen new ski tunes/binding mounts for around $30.

i did it once by myself not having a fuckin clue what i was doing
just cause it was the night before the first day of the season and i got new boot and i went to go clikc them in and they were to big for where the bindings were mounted so me and my dad re mounted the toe peice farther up and it worked like a charm

The line website says that you should have the bindings mounted and tested by the shop.

I think you should pay me to mount your bindings, then you will know that it was done right. You will also feel great knowing your hard earned dollars went to a worthy cause.

the line bindings are like snowboard bindings, theres pre-drilled holes in the skis, or board, and you just use the screws it comes with to put them in. these 4 holes are only on Line skis for now... i think...
