yeah. so there's one on techno. I figured I'd make one on folk.
But yeah. folk ain't your grandmas music, well it is and it isn't. the word folk is like a kick in the nuts to a musician with hopes of 'making it' (i.e. with the masses). Some of the best musicians never became widely noticed because they're labeled under 'folk'. When nobody can even define folk music. blue grass, blues, cultural music of the region, country, to... anything acoustic based all fall under folk, but all sound different.
Those ambient guitar riffs that you hear in movies, commercials etc. are folk music. Some of the best lyrics I have ever heard are from 'folk' music (I'd rather read the lyric sheet of some cds than a poem)
So yeah. I don't know if I should talk about labeling music in general, or opening your eyes to different types of music or just good shit.
Anyways. I suggest you check out Hayden. 90% of his songs are gold. Keep an open mind and keep your stick on the ice!
