Easy thing to remember... If you don't know don't go! Too many people in the BC who don't know shit. Take a class.

Yeah, you can't read a book and expect to know everything...experience is key, so before you build on your own use somebody elses, either take a class or ski with somebody who knows their shit. It's a jungle out there.

yah....you shouldn't ask people who have experiance for tips that aren't in books. You gotta learn that stuff in the field. Make friends with people who know what they are doing, take a course..and get that info the same way we did, experiance it.

Dontget me wrong i know some of the areas i wa sjut wonderin if there was anything uguys had learne dout of the ordinary........im backountry but not a beginner not an expert either

take classes and always go with a group of at least 4 or 5. there is no fuckin around with shit like that.

Read 'The White Death' by Mckay Jenkins. Its the best book ever, i think, and it will really get your head on straight about avalanches.

My experience has been you can read all the books out there you can surround yourself with the most knowledgable people, you can take all the precautions in the world, but in the end it's ALWAYS a gamble no matter how safe you may THINK you are. This last June I was making a summit attempt on Mt. Joffre off the Duffy Lake Rd. in B.C with The British Columbia Mountaineering Club when I as well as 8 others were taken and swept by this class two slide. Among the 8 of us 2 individuals teach industrial level 1 Canadian Avalanche Association program. Anyways no more talk I will upload the pic of the after math to the photo section, and you can see for yourself.
