Why do you guys hate Skiboards so much?

I don't know why some of you have this hate for skiboards.. If anything its harder and it takes more talent to pull and land trix. I have been Skiboarding for 3-4 years and i can throw spins from 180-900 w/ diffrent grabs, misty 5s and 7s, rodeo 5s, backs, underflips, corks, flats, rail switch ups, and 270 ons. Now i know for a fact that if any skier trys any of the trix mentioned above they would eat shit. But i have tried some of the trix above on skis and have landed them with ease. Hell if anything skiing is easyier. You have 140-180cm skis to land on and heavier so that you have more momentum when doing spins. I have only 99CM and 3-4' wide base (00 Line MN pros) to land on, any fuk ups and i eat it. Personaly I think Andy Stewart is the one of the best skiboarder/skiers in the world. He can go out and bust a cork 9 on skiboards take them off grab some skiis and bust a cork 10.

But all in all.. for people who think skiboarding is gay my sig says it all.
Skiboards are not gay... only the people who can't ride them are.

You said that you just wanted to know why we hate skiboading, you don't expect us to convert. We told you. It's got bad style, horrible movement in the air, and anywhere outta the park those things will snap. And even if they don't, you'll look like a moron hitting bumps or skiing powder. There's the reasons, the sport sucks. Drop it.

you guys are gay arguing about this, we should all just join forces and make fun of snowboarders. At least skiboarders don't ruin the mountain. I can understand where alot of people are coming from saying that it's not stylish but most people here are a bunch of posers and suck balls on skis or skiboards. So it really doesn't matter if you think skiboarding is gay or not. and another thing, i don't see why you could hate skiboarding, i can see not wanting to do it but hating it? you should be happy that you can look better by comparison, cuz thats all most of you got. I'm done with this thread.

Especially Phrosty for saying that we should all get together and dis snowboarders. Snowboarding is sick. Those guys do some cool shit. And skiing wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for snowboarding. Half the snowboarders used to ski. They switched cuz it was more fun. Most of you young guys on this site (13-18) don't remember what it was like before skiing blew up. Most of you would have looked at the tray riders and said DAMN!..I gots to get me one a dose thangs!

What advantage does snowblading have over skiing? you could never drop a descent cliff, not to mention even going half as big as any supertable, eventhough it is easier to rotate on snowblades you cant spin as much as you do on skiis, you cant go fast, and you have a retarded gorilla stance. face it, booting is for people who want to look cool but dont want to put the time in on skiis. even the best snowblader in the world(mike nick) gave it up

I dont hate skiboarders, hell I'll even give em' props if they can actually do sumthing but they are useless. I mean you cant do anything but sit in the park all day or look real silly on the groomed runs. its the 99% of the market that bugs me, punk kids who couldnt hack it on real skis so turned to those things.

and as to the comment about making fun of snowboarders, I dont know many fellow jibbers or even good skier for that matter but I find in general that snowboarders make for better company..... but like I said I dont know many people with skills on skis.

I bought them 4 years ago used them twice and they have sat in my room ever since, so if anyone wants to buy a brand new pair of 4 year old Salomon snowblades than message me, I'll sell em cheap.
But anyway, the point to my post is that I'm not just bashing skiboarding cause eveyone else is, I have actually tried it and found it to be a) excedingly easy b) ugly looking c) just dumb feeling when your on them.

jonski: The ISF (International Skiboarding Federation ) puts on skiboarding comps, there was one at Mount Snow, Swain mountain, Japan and a few other places.. We also did a demo at killington and mount snow.

Phrosty: I agree.

Personaly I think skiboarding is big in the east coast because the fact that we don't have mountains and powder to ride on.. other wise the sport would be completely dead. and everyone would either be snowboarding or skiing.

Must most of your opinions come from watching kids who just huck shit and it looks ugly. But if you rode w/ the ISF crew you would know that the trix can be clean and smooth. It takes practice just the same w/ skiing. I have seen alot of skiers try to throw 3s,5s, and 7s which absolutly look nasty. So it can go both ways. You make your trix look clean cuz you practice. All in all we are the same, except for the obvious you guys can go much bigger than us.


Skiing or skiboards we do it for the love of the sport.

Skiboarding isnt Big on the east coast anymore... the only big competition ive seen was the antigrav grail skiboarding deal,which I watched first hand and wasnt too impressed.

The best skiboarders are all skiing now. Anybody who was worth it anyways. Skiboarding is dead, deal with it. Look at all the companies that died out that were core skiboarding companies.

I dont HATE skiboarders, hell I have some LLI stickers on my car, and on my notebooks for school. But the sport is dead, and the only people left on em are fat snowlerblader tourists. Buy some skis.

I enjoy ALL forms of snowriding...

Here is what I do regularly:
ski = 20 years this season.
snowboard = 7 year this year.
cross country ski = 10 years this year.
telemark = 8 years this season.
snowshoe = whole life
skiboard = 6 years this season.
teleboard = just got my own last season.

Not as frequent, but still do often:
monoski = first tried it about 8 years ago.
snowbike = i've done it about 5 times now, it ROCKS!

So anyway, I discriminate against nobody, on or off the hill.

Man it's not so much that we hate skiboards, it's we hate skiboarders. I have nothing personal against a shitty 99cm plank of wood and fiberglass, it's the skiboard punks that think they're all cool.

Nah realy whatever, do what you like to do on snow I dont give a shit. The only reason I hate snowboarders is cause in the east the all suck and so they go down the hill and scrape all of the powder (the little that there is) right off the slope because the are fucking pussy's and slide sideways the whole way down. Leaving a nice sheet of ice for me to hit my ass on later. And they fucking scratch your topsheets gettin off the lift cause they have to do their gay one footed gimp walk off the lift. Not to mention they use the hillside as their own personal couch, just sitting down where ever the hell they please.

But skiboarders don't annoy me on the slopes, it's only when they say that it's harder than skiing or is more stylie that annoys me.

Before you call us ignorant, please don't think just beacause you can throw down a cork 9 on skiboards, you can throw it down on skis. I wouldn't really care if you snowerbladed, but you come in here telling us how much harder snowblading is compared to skiing. Man if you love the sport so much why do you bitch about how people make fun of you. I get made fun of for skiing in the park all the time by snowboarders. I dont care b/c skiing is better in my mind. You should do likewise. Im just how sick of how all the snowbladers come on this site and ask for our respect without showing some respect of thier own. Hold on there Phrosty. I'm not defending k2skipimp here, but lay off on Washington. Some of the best skiers ever are from Washington. The entire Mahre family, Jeff Harrison, and at least 6 people from 'In the Haze' are all from Washington. And maybe a little closer to your heart, MSP.

quite simply, the mian problem with skiboards is that you miss the best part of skiing. Which is going down the hill. Skiboarding is like trying to slide down the hill on your feet, where's the fun? Sure you can hit the jumps all day, but you're missing the finest experiences. For ex. powder kickers. Have you ever tried to throw some move way to advanced for your self, totally fucked up, landed on your head, got up and said 'WOH THAT WAS AWESOME.' Some newschool 'SKIERS' are riding 145's in the park which in my opinion doesn't even relate to doin' trix on real skis, but instead relates to skiboards. The difference is, you can still go down the hill, carve it up, and bounce around in a little pow on 145's.

PS. I'm 5'7' and I ride 170's, and they're allmost too short for me.

skiboarding really isn't slowing down...i mean it is, but it isn't. over seas it's as srong as can be and even out east and in the midwest it's still strong. i think without skiboards, twintips would be a few years off yet. think about it.

Whatever you guys like to do whether its skiing, skiboarding, or snowboarding, you should probably be a little bit more concerned about your tricks or the sport in general than what other people think of it. It's a known fact that most people that ski are not going to like snowboards or skiboarders, or vice versa. I'm just saying quit the bullshit and prove yourself and how good you and your sport really are. Go jump on a trampoline or something. You're just wasting your time sitting around arguing like a bunch of retarded fags.

I'm with sonya. I've always respected people who have become proffessionals at anything, because they've taken something they love, worked their balls off, and are now getting paid to just go out and have fun. It takes alot to become pro at anysport, even cricket. So props to all the pros, no matter what the sport. Still though... you skiboarders are missin' out on some great pow!

By the way... freestyle snowboarding has evolved much farther than where newschool skiing is today (at least in areas like the 1/2pipe). It is a fact that you have to face, snowboarders have owned the extreme winter scene for years now, and because of that, they can throw down much bigger and smoother moves in the pipe. So pay your respects.

It doesn't matter what you ride as long as you are having fun.
When you skiblade you are missing out on some of the best parts of skiing. No powder, No cliffs, No big air, and no speed.
Honestly, snowblading doesn't flow like skiing, and its nowhere near the challenge.
If you can throw style into skiblading then power to you. - But that is something I have yet to see.
It's all about style, Razor scooters are fruity but if I saw someone lay down a backflip over a gap, then I would give him my respect.
