Quite Frankly I just role around on the concrete in the summer so I don't get soar the first couple weeks of skiing
I stay quite active in the summer, mostly mountain biking, but I do know some skiers who don't really do anything in the summer and I would say that getting in shape before the season would do a lot of good both in terms of injury prevention as well as performance and how much enjoyment you will get out of days on the hill.
I have never really "trained" for ski season in the past, but this year I am hitting the gym, lifting, and balance training, I am very curious to see if I will notice any differences. MTB fitness kinda carries over but really not as well as I wish it did.
I will usually start doing legs in October, I do 4 sets of squats with the bar, some leg dumbell exercises and then I do leg blasters. Leg blasters are amazing and helps your muscle endurance for those long days of skiing
Everyone skips the hammies. Don't skip hammies.
Pray for early powder and do summit laps without turning. Real burn for your buck baby

Biking, skating, surfing, rock climbing, kayaking, anytbing you do that requires balance and keeps you in shape that you enjoy doing will help with skiing in ways with balance and other stuff

i hit the gym a lot which def helps, but something that really helps me with preventing injury is stretching a lot, and knowing how to fall from skateboarding.
I blew my hip out in march and still haven’t hit legs, is that an optimal training method?
I would 100% recommend a regular yoga routine to anyone. Mobility is king and you'll thank yourself later in life.
While I'm still young, I kept suffering random muscle strains after long runs and heavy lifting weeks. It's tough to get yourself to sit down and stretch for 20 minutes a day, but it gets much easier with time. The benefits are massive, and I feel like I'm just starting to unwind 26 years of flexibility neglect. Excited to see how skiing feels in December.
To the OP, I like to golf, lift, and run throughout the off-season. Find activities you enjoy and the fitness will take care of itself.
