anyone else ever thought about it? how convenient it would be to ski without wires? yes i too have thought about it as well. has anyone actually done it though?
I’d be waaay too sketched out about losing a white AirPod in the snow after spending all the money on it to not use a wired pair that feels and acts the same
Seen plenty of kids use em in the park for some reason, and have seen countless single ones when the snow melts a bit, I feel like it’s something the Fagans would do.
I've now skied 2 full seasons with airpods in almost every day, but always under a face mask. I also don't spend a lot of time in the park, and if I know I'm gonna try something with a high chance of crashing, I will take them out beforehand, cause finding them in the snow is nearly impossible.
I've also seen at least 4 random airpods on the ground while hiking the resort after the snow started melting, so there's that.

Wear a well fitting face mask. Otherwise just buy wired ones or the semi wireless ones that connect together
If you wear a balaclava or a beanie under your helmet, which I'm pretty sure 99.9% of all of us here do, they stay in your ear because that garment pushes them in to your ear and holds them there, at least for me that happens. I even wear mine mountain biking and have taken some good crashes, have never lost them. To each his own I guess.
The only time I lost an AirPod skiing is when I got in a fight. Buddy knocked the white AirPod onto the white snow and I couldn't find it. I have taken some serious spills and they have always stayed in my ears. I dont ski without them so I guess I trust them to stay in my ears the whole time. Unless you plan on being the Mike Tyson of your hill
I’ve worn mine under my face mask for 3 seasons, no problems, very convenient. Best part is the tap controls, I can control my music with mittens and a helmet on easily
it just depends how well they fit your ear. they fit my ear well enough that i can wear them for anything. my goggles will get knocked out of place before my airpods, that's for sure
