Squaw is way over rated. If I were you I would go ride/live in Mammoth. or ride at Alpine Meadows. Sure you might see a lot of pros up there but
the skiing isn't that great. on the weekends there are way to many tourists, they are way over priced, and the lift lines are out of control. Mammoths park is way better any way.

Squaw is incredible. Yeah it gets crowded on the wkends but the lift system is so good you should never have to wait in lines. It is real expensive though. Alpine has a lot of terrain comparable to squaw, for cheaper. Squaw has better parks without a doubt though. Mammoth is also incredible and they have a pass for $375. So you can't really go wrong with any of those.

In the winter its not very warm, just because it's California doesn't mean it's sunny all the time.

Yeah cali weather is the best cause it'll dump like no place else, but when the sun comes out, it usually warms up to a reasonable temperature, except in the depths of december and january.
