I'm no expert but trail running, especially going downhill has gotta be some of the best preseason training there is. Same sort of motion and repetitive impact damping with legs while being killer cardio. Also a mental exercise with quick line choice decision making that makes it hella fun.
Shit scares me more than 99% of the skiing I do and I love it. Just try not to break your ankles before winter
