Replying to The Downfall of Big Brands
It’s honestly crazy to think about how many small time clothing brands have started in the past couple of years. Although many of them probably won’t make it in the long run, how do you believe they are impacting some of the bigger companies in the industry?
Almost all riders know about the small companies popping up left and right and creating these 1 of 1 pieces. The ‘average joe’ on the hill isn’t aware of these companies which brings in some interest. I always hear about how important it is to support small business but skiing, right now, is one of the best examples of that.
I love the way the community is taking somewhat of a risk giving their money to these small brands to help another rider instead of a big brand. The only downside to this is that ski shops will (probably) never have some of these smaller brands in store due to margins. Many riders aren’t shopping in store anymore (for outerwear at least) to help support their local ski shop.
Apologies for the rant,
Pat
