Powder day douchery? Is spring slush superior?

Has it been increasing, has it stayed consistent? It's always been a little bit of a thing, crowds haven't helped, social media really hasn't helped.

Got some good pow runs today but honestly pow days can fuck off. Give me slush laps. No lines, sunshine, good vibes.

Pow days seem to bring out the douche in people, especially the last couple of years.


Obviously different people have different views, and different locations have different vibes. I've noticed this consistently in places I've ridden in recent years. Wondering what people's thoughts are?

Weekend pow days are always gonna be fucked. I had a banger pow day today with no lines, because it’s wednesday.

I do love some spring slush though and those days are some of the most fun I’ve had on skis

We had a Tuesday last week wrh massive lines and low vibe douchery.

Usually midweek is better but even the douchers and almost mostly the douchers are on the heavy hunt for pow. The worst vibes I see now are on the pow days.

I just rode a few epic empty chair days. That said I'd trade them for slush if it meant people weren't a bunch of douche bags when they come ride some times.

3maniaLast week was all slush and park, today at Snowmass was 15" of blower and no one around. I love me some slushy park laps, but cmon, repeated over head blower pow is so rare that I'm def going Powder Day!


I feel you missed the point. And also 15" is hardly overhead pow. I feel that's misleading from the start. Even if it's blowing over head that doesn't define the dept. There is bottomless powder and 15" blowing when you turn is different.

Also this isn't the point. Maybe you're mountain is a rare one, or you haven't noticed pow day douchery. Vibes used to go up when it snowed. In some ways they do but they draw in the biggest emergence of unapologetic assholes every time.


Even hearing the people that won't drive up unless it's a pow day confirms it. They miss some of the best days of the year and are 50% more likely to be complete fucking assholes to everyone they encounter.

Oh boy to some of us look silly, total egg on the face moment. I do like slush but this week has been fun and almost 30" of pow in mid april isn't terrible either. And for anyone thats gonna say "oooo its gona go back up to 80 in SLC next week", you're probably right but we just got like 3 more weeks of skiing added on.

Well it was super light snow so it was def blowing over my head, maybe if you were as good a skier as me you could make the snow move a little more. On the steep shit it was def overhead. No one was here so no douchery. In general on pow days, or any other day, I don't go up until 11:30 so i by pass most of the BS that seems to upset you so much.

I feel this. Have started to resent powder days and all the hassle... getting up earlier, harder to park, lines all day, everybody stressing about the perfect run, and the knowledge that it gets worse as the day goes on and everything is tracked. Storm days, night skiing, and slush are way more fun.

So update on feels after this week. Got some really good uncrowded days in, rode pow every day.

I still resent the big pow days as described. I agree with eheath, you can make 2 inched overhead in a white room, honestly a half inch.

The only reason this hasn't gotten too out of hand imo is that people got there spring pow fix, got their photos etc. They're over it.

It's been really good but i still love ending on good sunny park days.

Ill make the most of whatever, i got some great lines in, but I stand to my original statement after a week of hot lapping pow.

Vibes have been better since it's late season, but spring vibes are superior.

Is this not the point of the thread to debate the slushy park days vs. pow days? Also i just like posting pics of myself. So here's some of me skiing slushy park .

I had a sleeper powder day yesterday. Came out of nowhere. 5” with little wind but refilling non stop. Not too cold and not wind crusted. No crazy line frenzy. Probably best day skiing I’ve had all year
