Ascendants vs lupos

Sup guys, it’s me again, asking for gear advice. I’ll hopefully be skiing a lot of bridger next winter, but I want a boot that can tour too. I’m kind of deciding between the Sammy Carlson ascendant and the dalbello lupo. Let’s say I’ll be skiing 60% aall mountain, 20% touring, and 20% park.
Inb4 bootfitter, what do you guys think about these two boots? Do you have any other suggestions for a touring capable boot that can rip just like a downhill boot? (Hawx, mindbender ti, etc.)

Hawx are ok, on the heavy side and a bit clunky. Lange XT3 and Fischer Ranger are lighter and ski great.
Tecnica Cochise is beefy but skis well.
Lupo is good if your a fan of 3 piece, i’ve never encountered an ascendant though sadly.

Boot fitter here. Full Tilts are the biggest pieces of shit on the market and the upper cuff will
have a disturbing amount of wiggle out of the box. Buy a dalbello.

I’ve heard the ascendants have a fit similar to a bucket. Great if you have a wide foot and massive legs.

Bootfitter here to confirm. The do fit pretty similar with my experiences in them, but the shell quality is way better on dalbello unless you REALLY want a heat moldable shell. That being said, in my opinion the Ultralon tour liner that comes with the lupo (exept the lupo pro) is ass but I tend not the like the lighter liners they make

Ok thanks for the tip I’ve always wondered if full tilts were sus for big mountain

Okay sweet. Would you recommend the lupo pro for the liner then? Or should I get intuition liners/zip fit?

If you don't have a narrow foot, don't get the pros. I use intuition personally but a lot of people here swear by zipfit so that's up you

I have the Pro’s and I don’t think they fit narrow. In a 26.5 they claim to be 98 mm but they do not feel it. Could be just me…

The toebox is fucking huge to be fair. but other than that i'd say narrow at least compared to the regular lupo

I have to chime in here because the Hawx Ultra XTD 130 weighs less than 1500grams in a 26.5 and the Prime version weighs just over 1600grams…. What idiot on the internet did you listen to that you think that either boot is in any way, shape or form heavier than a Lange XT3?

the idiot i listened to was my hands when my hawx prime boots were much heavier than the lange xt3 i had in the other hand

Either you didn’t have the touring version, you had radically different sizes, or there’s some imbalance in your brain because there’s no world that the Lange weighs less

Every feet is different, but I really disliked the fit of the Ascendant SC, toe box was huge/ way too wide, while the boot felt small, i sold them after skiing something like 5 days.

I had the XT3 before which were fine but felt soft, didn't ski like a true 130 IMO.

Before that again I had the Cochise which i liked a lot in the resort, felt like a true 130. touring capabilities were meh IMO.

Jumped the gun this season and got the Lupo Pro with a ZipFit liner, that combo was money for me, i feel like I found my boot and I see myself getting that boot as long as they produce it. I have a lot of homies who feel the same about the Lupos for what it's worth.

I have an older (orange, 2019 model maybe) pair of Lupo 130Cs that I absolutely love. Narrow 98mm last, but I have skinny feet and ankles so they're perfect for me.

The only downside has been the grilamid clog getting beat up really easily, a problem Dalbello solved with the Lupo Pro HD (which trades a few grams for a full PU clog.) The stock liner was indeed pretty ass, but I replaced it with a set to Intuition Tour Wraps, which feel great (if a bit small.)

Coming from someone who loved, loved, loved his original shell FTs I've only ever tried on the Ascendant, and I hated the fit. Wide and sloppy last with a super low cuff height when compared with the originals. No bueno in my book.

Gimme a tourable FT built from the original shell, and I will consider switching back. Otherwise I'm sticking with Lupos for the foreseeable future.
