Replying to Tahoe parks and mtns..your oppinions and condition updates!!
Well everyone the season is here and it looking good...Sierra has the best base in the nation and the snow a week or 2 ago was soft and fluffy. I just wanted to start a post that people can post on to detail what ski places they went to on such and such day and time and to let others know what the conditions were like.... Ill start 12-26-02 SUGARBOWL....3 days before the 26th the glades next to crows nest chair off the the extreme left of the mtn facing down in the out of bounds area were untouched...expect good powder in the knee hieght there if it hasnt been beaten up and or it just snowed....otherwise the terrain park on 12-26-02 features 2 tables, one spine, and 3 stepdowns...The first table is about 25-30 feet long...if u dont speed check you get about 5-8 feet off...the landing is smooth enough to crash and not feel anything...perfect for long slow 360s. The next table is about 50 feet long and as high and as high as a 1 and a half story house...u kinda gotta tuck and skip the first table located at the top to clear it....it throws you more lengthwise then up....otherwise there is a small spine the is pretty well maintained for switch stuff...and lastly 3 step downs which drop off fairly quickly. If u dont speed check them before you can easily drop 15 or so feet onto the flat and well that hurts....not bad for early season...zaug cut pipe should be open fairly soon..I skied with about 5 other guys that day and we ruled the park...I didnt see one boarder try any spins and the traffic that day was fairly light. Expect heavier traffic as the holidays move towards the 1st....good luck witht the season...and post conditions here!!!!
