It really is that simple, as with the the 2nd amendment debate, the constitution still reigns supreme. So if you respect the 2nd amendment, you should respect the 14th amendment just the same.

But maybe you think that's a weak argument because the constitution should be constantly updated to reflect societal changes anyway? (that's cool, I actually do too)

Well, then it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day you should always respect 'we the people'. A clear majority of americans are against overturning roe v wade, and we are a representative democracy, so fuck off already.

Personally I believe it should be allowed, there are just too many cases where the women that require this service are going to do it come hell or high water. If the service is not supplied safely and medically correctly it will endanger the life of the mother as well. So for me, if you ban it, it will simply go to backstreet abortions again with coat hangers and the likes and that doesn't benefit anyone, except maybe lawyers.... And hell you don't need any more excuses for sending people to sing sing in the USA, you've already got more people there than any other country... and this should never be a crime.
If you want a way to think about this, put yourself in the position of being a woman who was violently raped by her father/uncle/brother.... then tell me you wouldn't understand why this can be an essential service.

baz25216I did say as an opener this is a thorny issue.... I've never ended up in that situation myself with anyone I've been with and am happy that is my situation. But for me women can end up in the situation through no fault of their own, so making it illegal is IMO unfair. And its not a baby until it is born. Most procedures of this type happen before there is a heart beat or any movement so we're definitely not talking about babies here. And if there is a termination later than that, the vast majority of such cases are because there is a medical issue for the mother or the feotus meaning that they had to take it further than normal.

There is way too little empathy for other's situations in the world right now. It is rather sad to see it this way as well. Civil debate and discussion is being ground into the dirt with ridiculously partizan stances being taken on almost every issue. And when people are fighting over wether or not to get a mask on / vaccination and being called Nazi this and Nazi that for their positions on such trivial matters relatively speaking, how does one expect a civilised conversation to happen on an issue like this one which is actually very important, most of all for the women affected by it....
