Narrower Sir Francis Bacon alternative?

I just sold my sick days 94 which were meant to replace my 2020 SFB's. Didn't like that ski very much, not enough pop, get thrown around alot because of its low weight. Might have preffered them as a touring ski.

Anyway now that i'm 1 pair down, I need something to fill the void. The 2020 line SFB's are my favorite pair to date. The pop was awesome, super playful on and off piste. The only bad thing aside from the durability was the width. A bit too wide for me out here on the east coast considering I already have a pair of Bent Chetler 120's for deep days and the yearly ski touring trip.

So my question is, is there anything similar in a narrower width? I'm not a park guy but I like to hit every little feature I can find. The SFB's were on the soft side for those icier days but they were so much fun I have to get a similar pair but that can handle the ice a bit better.

I recently picked up some 2021 chronics and from the looks and specs they seem pretty similar to the sfbs.

I back to back flexed them with my sfbs and the chronics were maybe a tiny bit stiffer but about the same flex. The waist is 95 and the radius is 16m (same as the sfb). I haven’t skied them yet but they seem pretty similar

If only I had found the Joy of Skiing allplays before they got sold out... :(

Not sure how the stiffness compares, but a quick glance at the specs seem to point to a narrower SFB. Not to mention Eric Polard left Line to start Season...

The Chronic does ski like a more hardpack-oriented Sir Francis Bacon. To me they seemed like they'd be a great east coast ski, but it was a few years ago now that I last rode them. Here's my review: https://www.newschoolers.com/news/read/The-Roofbox-Review-2019-Line-Chronic

Yeah I was thinking the same. I remember reading somewhere or something. I haven’t been around SFBs in awhile though. Surely, the camber isn’t as high as the chronic?

No definitely lower camber and quite a bit more rocker than the chronic

For sure, but they share a lot from materials to sidecut shape/setback, to flex pattern etc. Both skis are tweaked to fit their intended use but they came from the same brand, the same minds at the same development team. Line skis have always had a trademark feel and the SFB and Chronic exhibit that. If you like one, odds are good you'll like the other.

Homeboy’s trying to find a resort ski and sounds like he wants something with less play than SFBs. Just sayingggg, Enforcers are a dope resort ski brah!

I read both your reviews, your SFB one helped me pull the trigger on my 2020's. In the chronic review you did compare them to the SFB'S, but I was unsure if you meant the stiffer older model or the newer one with the convex tip and tail.

So I was talking about the older Bacon, given the timing, but there are a lot of similarities between all the Bacons, in terms of how they turn etc. That carried to the Bacon you have, lots of the similarities of Line-y feel have remained consistent through many of their skis. That Chronic has the feel of a narrow Bacon, regardless of generation. In terms of actual flex, it's softer than those old Bacons, but stiffer than the one you have (tip and tail).
