a twin that can carve like a GS ski??

Ok, so I need one more set of skis to complete my aresenal. I have PR's for powder, 1080's for beaters, STL's for park/pipe, and TM's for pipe/piste. I was going to get the Volkl 6 star for next year, which now I think they are calling the All Star. But now I am thinking that I would really rather have a twin tip ski that can carve the hell out of groomers and grip on serious east coast hard pack. Is there such a ski out there? Any suggestions? Atomic?

i just got the triplets n god do they every hold! there gr8 for the east coast n really ride well outside the park, stiff ski! it's got a great grab when landing too

Mad Trix are the only skis mentioned that I have ridden, and they definately hold an edge and get my recommendation.
I'm just curious, you live in PA, yet you have PRs. Now I know you can get some storms that pass up Ohio, but I'm with the first guy that mentioned you have enough skis already. That being said, you obviously don't think that, so like I previously stated, Mad Trix.

Well, we get a few small dummps each year here... and I use them up in VT a lot. The PR's that is. And since when is it possible to have too many skis?

^ I guess it's not, just looking out for a fellow skier's wallet. If you get the Mad Trix or it sounds like the Elon M02s then you can ride them all mountain, some powder, and park, so you don't need as many skis.

^thanks. I ski about 100 days a year and I also ski as a job, so I usually get my money's worth out of the skis. You are also absolutely correct about possibly finding a ski that will allow me to sell a pair or two.

I had the original mad trix and they are pretty good for carving, but the aren't as good and fast as the 1080 Lab.

skier150 - why not look at the characteristics of a GS ski and test drive twins that match up closely?
Length: ~180 cm
Waist: less than 80 mm
Radius: 20-22 m
Flex: Medium to stiff

^thanks, that is kind of what I am doing now. I have been looking at the sidecuts of the skis that people have been reccomending. So far the Elan has the best carving sidecut, then the Head. The Assisin MTX also does not look too bad. I would like to try and get under 20m radius.

^ In that case you're not really looking for something that carves like a GS ski. Something in a smaller radius but not quite SL. Gotcha.

Right, as a true GS ski would have a radius >21m
The Elan I demoes had a 16m radius (175cm) -which I thought was about perfect, coud rip turns without having to go ballistic speeds.
(I think the 165cm & 155cm are a 13.5m radius, so depending on size, they'll ski very different)
I think the problem with most twins when compared to a race ski is finishing the turn. They're just not built to build up energy and release creating the acceleration out of the turn...
Another ski I love is my old pair of Scott Intoxica's. They're a little shorter and have a 14.4m radius. probably a little quicker ski than you want, but they will also rip turns (even snappier than the Elan).
Scott's current twin is the P3 (unfortunately I haven't been able to ski that yet)

Yes, you are correct. Like if I was picking a race ski from Volkl I wold want the radius of the GC, not the GS or the SC. Something like 17-21m is fine. I understand that a twin tip will never ski like a GS ski, but I would like something that can carve groomers and hardpack with ease, speed, and stability.

that p3 is soooo sick... def. rips real hard. not as lively as the elan, but its got phenomonal edge grip and its pretty close to center mounted too. very stable as well. we'll be one of about
