Best east coast resort for tree skiing?

Just wondering what yalls opinions
Were about the best ec resorts for tree skiing. Out west
Summit county colorado obviously takes the cake because the mountains are actuallly high enough to spread out the trees to perfect low density. Do any ec resorts have tree skiing that can compare?

I think Sugarbush is seriously underrated for tree skiing you just have to know where to look. MRG and Jay Peak are obviously awesome too but everyone already knows a lot of the secrets there

I don't love the trees at bush but Mad River and Jay have the best tree skiing in the country, east or west

West vs east coast tree skiing is a totally different world. Tbh, east coast scares me more.

I have only been to a limited number of places but I will say, Jay is probably the best. Their entire resort is a free for all. Anything they own is fair game. There's so many nooks and crannies that people never touch, you can find stashes on the iciest of days if you know where to look. Mrg is insane but feels smaller-only been there once. Smuggs is def pretty good too.

So. to be fair, check out Gore or Whiteface. If you know where to go its great and doesnt see the traffic other resorts do so you can get fresh days after a storm.

Loon's a pretty good mountain for tree skiing, if you go to the North Peak and hike over via trail at the top of the lift you get access to nothing but tree skiing on Black Mountain, don't let ski patrol catch you tho.

Yeah Mad River and Jay are the best for sure.

I also had met a random local on a chair at Pico who showed me around and was really impressed there as well.

East coast tree skiing is terrifying. Tight, ice, and having new growth whippets wack you every other turn. No thanks.

Where is the best western us trees than?
Steamboat is high on my list.
Also the majorly underrated Powderhorn, CO has some amazing glades.

Jay Peak has awesome glades, but its not even close to BC mountains. The East has mostly Black Spruce and Birch forests. The North West has Pine and Cedar which makes for more open lines and "natural" feel.
Le Massif has been trying to open up their glades and isnt too bad. Mont St-Anne's glades are fun as fuck.

This so much. Having lived in the ice coast for most of my sad lyfe, jore is tits for tree skiing. Thanks to the trail crew that one year who started cutting all the secret glades into legit stuff, they went from a few to a bunch in like 1 or 2 years. A little bit of everything. Tahawus is a super mellow entry with wide open treesm chatty has the wide open with steeps, Stuff like cave is real tight with a decent pitch. Twister was dope but it's dead, but the cirque one is supposed to be chill. I think I only went through once cause meh snow, and it was cut after my jore days.

The one under topridge is kinda meh. Lots of flat landings. Idk.

Didn't they cut something off wildair and put a sketchy wood park in there? Remember seeing a hype pic and then nothing about it again.

Fuck. I miss the jore days. Gorey gully lives on in my heart.

Also the hot mess/legend that was johara.

Wildcat faces north and is pretty high up (4000+ feet). Basically all the wind blows all the snow off the mountain and allows it to collect in the trees

i'd say Jay, i might be wrong but i'm pretty sure they get the most snowfall on the east coast too, by a pretty hefty amount.

Twister glade is the perfect warm up on a pow day before they open topridge chair. cave glades are super fun and everything over on burnt ridge is worth it. The most fun would be the pillows on the powerlines after coming down barkeater halfway. You can find a few decent cliffs on it. Snoopy's chute is fun as is cleavage.

this was classic last year down double barrel after they got 2' and for some reason the ropes werent dropped yet. check the chairlift.

Johara hahaha.

The gully was my child hood. I remember skating on that long ass flat just to get to the terrible park, what a time. #SkiToga

Aspen has some great tree skiing, albiet the fall lines are kinda weird. Steamboat too, but when I was there I didn't get to explore much.

I love east coast trees , I love west coast trees and I like rollin trees anyway our ec trees are dense as fuck we don’t have the altitude for low density trees like wc, but a lot of it is fun and even scary yah we got steeps and icy fuckin chutes , drops in the trees , even pow time to time but we need serious landscaping

This thread makes me want to go skiing. But also happy to be more than 1/2 through the offseason from last turns last year to first this year albeit barely. (Wildcat should spin the quad by Nov 1.)

i worked there for a few years and got to drop one side after the valentines day storm. Something like 40" i think. My buddy on patrol took one and I hit the other. Def a sweet mountain though. I'd almost consider going back there to the park again if some of the mgmt is gone. I dig the mountain. Downside now is it's in the middle of nowhere kind of and not really trying to live around there. Was different when I was in speculator.

Def a cool mountain though some solid groomers. Lies on a nice bluebird feb day is probably one of my favorite trails.

Waring with racers, people falling off lift. Pretty much building your own shit or fixing things. I don't even think gore had a park crew then. Johara was probably involved. And thatg one ski school guy, whatever the fuck his name was. Don't think I saw him after like 06.

Also sketchy big air jump on the arena, one time on showcase. The pipe, the gully, fuck the good old days.

IT'd be cool to build a dank park there as a fuck you to Waste mtn, but I doubt I ever would. Might try and go to jay eventually though. A few friends have worked there for a while, 2 just bought houses so kinda locked down. Only been in the summer though.

East coast is chill. But west was def not the best spot to move back for.

Nostalgia.

Also now that I'm rambling, I guess hersey is going to law school now instead of ski bumming?

Marble Mountain Nfld has really great spots in the trees, but you can get your pass clipped if you're caught. Usually some bushwacking is necessary too.

Now i just want to preface this by saying: HEAR ME OUT!

Bretton Woods may not have the best tree skiing, but it is certainly the most fun tree skiing! you can do top to bottom, every lift, every run, and never touch a groomer. Now, i know that doesn't sounds super special, but considering the mean age of the average skier there is triple digits, its all yours, every time! never gets tracked out, only gets better. Also, because of its aspect, Bretton Woods always has better conditions than its neighbors.

Wildcat and Cannon, as others have said, are great when they are great, but horrible all the other times. If its a killer storm, head to one of those.

Loon, on the other hand, has the worst tree skiing in NH, easily. It gets tracked wicked fast, and there are only a small handful of decent glades.

Wish I could speak more to VT, Jay is obviously the mecca of glades on the East Coast. The hype is very real there

Gotta put one in for Magic Mtn. The first few runs of the day you’ll be itching for the red line to be faster, after skiing untouched, steep, tight trees all day you’ll be thankful that the lift is so long. Also even on their busiest days Ive never seen a line there at all. Real hidden gem
