Best universities for skiing in Canada???

Supposed to be going to Ryerson in Toronto this fall but been considering taking a year off and applying to another school in Canada with some good riding nearby. I know Blue and Louis aren't too far from the city but still looking for something closer to the school I'm gonna be going to. Anyone have any experience with schools that have some good skiing or even a ski/board club?

Montana state in bozeman. Big sky and bridger right nearby.

University of Nevada Reno. Squaw/Alpine reasonably close and Mount Rose is evencloser. UVM for east coast mountains.

Heard good this about UVM that would be a good option. Being in Canada would be ideal for me which is the only thing holding me back

I don’t know where in Canada you are but Burlington isn’t too far from the Canadian boarder if that’s a concern. Have friends who go to UVM and live in Burlington and love it there.

If you’re trying to go out west in the Rockies without dealing with the CO crowd, Flagstaff, AZ has a decent mountain with Northern Arizona University in town.

usually isn’t what people think of when talking about “ski towns” but the snow fall this year is almost the same as Telluride- like within a foot or two for the whole season- and you can ride all week as an NAU student for cheap.

NAU has great environmental programs as well as hospitality ones. Worth a look for sure.

Calling it, the University of Utah. It’s 40 minutes from tons of rad terrain and parks.

If you’re on the east coast. University of Vermont or Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. UVM had good deals with Stowe and Sugarbush. And Plymouth let’s students get $5 tickets to cannon mountian which is 30 minutes away. And there are other mountians closer.

Give Michigan Tech a look, My Ripley is owned by the school so students get to ski for free, Mt Bohemia is only a 45 min drive away and has the best skiing in the midwest by far, completely ungroomed terrain, lots of cliff drops and glades, 300+ inches of snow, and you can get a season pass for only $100

The ski/board club here is also super dope and they put on some really cool events like having a rail jam on campus on Halloween, a slopestyle competition, yearly spring break trip out west, pond skim and banked slalom race in the spring

Young_IPMCCalling it, the University of Utah. It’s 40 minutes from tons of rad terrain and parks.


University of Utah is a solid school and is about 30 to 45 min from Park City, Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird. You are going to have a hard time beating that.

Look into plymouth state in NH .. 20-30 min away from Loon , Cannon , Waterville and a ton of smaller mountains. Great freeski community and a majority of people either ski or snowboard. Plus we have ski day where the school cancels class a day in February and everyone goes skiing at Waterville and has a great time..... 😂

i'm going to u of wa this fall, pretty good parks within 40 mins and sickkkk resort terrain within 2 hours @ crystal. also it's a really good school w one of the best business programs in the us

I went to school there and bumped chairs at Mt rose then Alpine.
Still at Alpine but not bumping chairs.

Depends on what you want to study but UNR can be a great school.

Spot on with that I'm looking to be in Canada because I'm from Ontario. I've been looking into UBCO actually good mountains nearby which sounds sick and lots of people who are down to ski

University of Calgary, canada Olympic park is in the city and Banff is an hour away with bussing options, also the uofc has a huge ski club that does like 4 ski trips a season that are all weekend long trips to decent Hills.

paying less to live in Tahoe than I did to live in Burlington, VT. Skiing way more powder.

UBC you can get a student seasons pass cheaper or epic pass for whistler. Canadian tuition much less than the us. The school has a free ride, and race team which means there are many buses and car pools going up for a day. You can camp for a weekend ina parking lot and the drive up for a day. The drive is an hour and 30 from vancouver.

If you live in Canada for a year before and get citizen ship or in province living, the tuition is much less. As an international student i assume it will still be expensive, but not nearly as much as in the us where it is 50,000 a year. If your going there look at all scholarship options you can get some for just being yourself. IE. being (black asian) Universities need to meet a certain standard of students of all races

LOL snoqualmie is not that sick lol. Go to stevens baker or cyrstal. Cyrstal is alright they got into a lawsuit and cant have a terrain park only "jibs" lol the park crew makes huge jibs that you can jump. I think they are gonna change it tho. I actullly do like snoqualmie and alpental but just doesnt really compare to Stevens. Though aplental has nice terrain.

You can take classes in the parking lot of any ski resort and spend less to get the same generic 4 year degree as your peers. And your parents are going to be disappointed with you no matter what you do so might as well make the most of it.

haha I was talking about the Whistler pass as a UBC student, actually as an exchange student I pay the tuition of my home university, which is (almost) free, thank you France

Do UBC Vancouver. You can get a student pass to Whis for like 600$ early season. Its only about 1hr45mins drive from campus if you leave early in the morning. Plenty of buses drive up to there too for good prices (Epic Rides is a company that does 32$ CAD round trips from vancouver to whistler village). You would also only be a 30 min drive from Cypress, Grouse (which always has a fun park) and Mt. Seymour. If you ski lots of park you will have no shortage of terrain (although i might do grouse and seymour as they are known to have better parks than cypress). If you are into more backcountry touring stuff there is no shortage of terrain to play around in (lots of avalanche certifications can be done locally too at Mt. Seymour for example). Grouse Mountain also offers the Y2Play pass which you can buy half way through the season which carries over into the next year for like 300$ for students. Plus all local mountains offer night skiing till 10pm which is dope after classes.

Ya lol the fucking yellow jackets are now at stevens killing it as ever. When i went to whistler, at the end of the day when the yellow jackets yell at people speeding I tried to go super fast and see their reactions. I hauled ass down swerving with my friend funniest shit as they tried to run at us in their snow boots.

I've been at bozeman this school year. I set my schedule so I am able to ski after 10 on Monday & Wednesday, Fridays off, Ski the rest of the weekend. Also depends on your major. Im in film so I pretty much have endless amounts of free time besides the 3 page papers and quizzes every week or so.

"University" of Phoenix is a for profit online degree mill not a university in Phoenix. I'm pretty sure you can take classes anywhere you can get an Internet connection.

Ah damn that's a good point didn't realize that. Just took a quick look and all the online programs they offer aren't what I'm going for which sucks. I'm not looking for something like a business program or humanities I'm interested more in media more than anything

ubc vancouver seems sick cuz grouse and seymour look amazing but how tf is it possible to afford housing there as a student?

it is an issue in the city but i know the fraternities on campus charge like $400 a month if they have empty spaces

im a junior at montana state, i can say first hand after visiting all the other ski schools on trips during this season that MSU is undoubtedly the best for a high quality education at an affordable prive and great skiing. i usually ski 4 days a week even with 17-20 credits a semester and all my friends love skiing just as much as anyone else on ns
