Next ski for my quiver?? Arv 96 currently

So I am skiing currently in Pennsylvania and I love my arv 96s. I was wondering would I should consider for a 2nd ski in my quiver.
So I ski a ton of park and want my arvs to be my park skis. I was wondering if I should get a wider ski or just a different style of park ski since we do not get very much snow here constantly.
Also I am 5' 11-6' and about 140-150 lbs.

Maybe keep ARV96 as a jump ski and get a super light and narrower ski for rails? Softer could be fun as well. Some well-known rail skis are Vishnu Wet, Line Honey Badger, Jskis Whipit.

Moment Deathwish? Something 110mm-ish, for when it does snow or slush days.

If you're happy with how the ARV 96 skis on hardback you're not really carving trenches on piste right?

^ This for a two ski quiver. Settled for the kartel 96 and 108 myself. Please talk me out of getting a carving or charger ski?

Personally what I'm doing for my Wisconsin quiver is my Vishnu Wets for rails and jibbing around and then I'm probably going to get some Kartel 96s or 108s for the rest of the mountain/some powder and larger jumps. I already have my Wets and I wouldn't want anything else for rails, they are perfect if you don't want a midfat. I'm not set on the Kartels yet but I'm favoring them over the competition. If the Moment PB&J was stiffer I would maybe go that route. Also I'm looking at the Meridian as a contender with the Kartel 108 but I need to do more research on it. I also wish the Deathwish came in a slightly thinner size because I hear great things but it's so wide for the midwest.

Anything over 20ft I'd prefer a different ski. Anything over 30/35ish I don't feel safe doing on my Wets as I'm already not great a jumps being a midwest kid (I also stopped skiing for over 5 years and just came back) so I'd like something stiff enough where I won't wash out.

I wouldn't get another 96 underfoot and also wouldn't go more then 108 for your needs. The Meridians might be a good contender to the Kartels depending if Moment hits the mark with them.

Kartels have the flex of a jump ski but the huge rocker definitely won't support you as well as something with a more traditional rocker profile.

The meridians 108's look fun. Anybody have experience? I also have the ARV96s, and after a recent weekend in durango during the nuking they got I'd like to get a better soft snow ski.

id stick to something between 108-116 with a bit of camber. That way you could still use em on groomers and you wont feel unstable. Meridian 107 was thrown around, kartel 108, maybe line mordecai

supersquidid stick to something between 108-116 with a bit of camber. That way you could still use em on groomers and you wont feel unstable. Meridian 107 was thrown around, kartel 108, maybe line mordecai


Pretty much what squid said, except the meridian is reverse camber, deathwish might be better though meridian is supposed to have great edge hold for a fully rockered ski.

I'd argue with the 96 being the narrower of two skis getting a 106ish would be too close and you should go with something wider 110-120ish. I have the ARV 96 and 4frnt Kye 110s and am considering going wider 118-122 or something skiing in Tahoe.

Hey dude just a little advice, when you reply to somebody you should click the reply button under their comment. This way it quotes their post and it notifies the person that you replied to something they said. If you don't want to quote their whole comment you can delete the section(s) you don't want to quote. If you don't do this it can get confusing for readers and the person has no idea you replied to them. They will get a notification saying there is a new post in a thread they commented in but they probably won't check it as they don't think they are needed.

While wider skis are harder to get on edge, I feel like its blown out of proportion. You can get anything on edge if you go fast enough. While it may be a little harder, if you just spread your legs a bit more and go faster it shouldnt be a problem. Its not ideal, but then again you have a 96 underfoot ski for those groomer days. A 108 ski on groomers isnt going to be a problem, I could see it being annoying when you start getting into 116 + underfoot.

i'm not 100% how much snow pennsylvania gets but unless you are consistently getting 9-12+" days i really wouldnt worry about getting a wider ski. If you are happy with you Arv96s try getting something abit narrower and flat tailed, you'll be amazed at how much fun skiing a more on piste specific ski can be on those days where you arent riding park. properly laying a ski over and feeling it engage is a sick feeling, and it is much much easier on a narrower ski. Also you can transmit power into the edges easier on a narrower ski, so edge grip is massively improved against a fat ski.
