patagonialukeI'll let Tom confirm, but to me, it seems like they took the Recon and added a walk mode, tech fittings, and grip walk soles. Curious to see stated weights and ROM.
Yeah when developing the Recon Alpine boots, this boot was always in mind. It shares the same lower clog as the Recon, but is only offered in the 98mm last rather then 98 and 100mm. But luckily its still fully heat moldable so I was able to get my 112mm feet in them no problem. If you fit a recon you fit these boots.
As stated weight is 1675g in a 26 so only a tiny bit heavier then the recon even with the extra parts. We have a new touring liner which is still pretty stiff. there is a huge amount of forward lean adjustment on the cuff, much more then really any touring boot.
I have been skiing them for a little while now and they feel great. Same great fit as a recon and the walk mode is absolutely solid, so there is no slight give in the cuff. All the power is there and you get that nice rebound and feel of the Pebax cuff.
Real win in every way in my (biased) opinion.

Thanks boss! They would be useful for kids, I lived through the 80's and the rise and fall of the rear entry boot. I wouldn't buy them for myself, maybe in 20 years, but I could see them being useful for kids, especially little ones who aren't really pushing a boot very hard.

Yes we are- just like what we've been doing in Backland for the last 4-5 years. But, I don't consider that an update, more like a neutral change haha. It's just like what we had before, except now just made by us. No one will notice any difference between old and new Ultra XTD in this regard.

Haha oh fair enough. I chatted to Steve about them and he remembered that change so I figured that was one of the four and hence why if anyone could see that change it would be impressive.

This is sick. We need them down to mondo 16 os so. Also the have the reebok pump which peaked at the same time rear entry boots peaked c. 1988, which is a perfect tie in.
Quick note: was this video shot on a vintage camera to further tie in with the 80's theme retro throwback? Was it like a hi-8? It looks like skate movies my friends shot on those.

Karin is hilarious. She doesn't work for Atomic at all- she's an Austrian fashion blogger and is just generally awesome haha. We had so many technical issues with these FB videos. It was supposed to be "Live" but then our internet cut out, and then lighting got mega weird, so we just tried to bust it out as fast as possible haha.
