Looking to upgrade from my 2012 Armada AR7s this season. The three skis I'm looking at, Armada ARV 96, ON3P Kartel 96, and 4FRNT Vandal. Looking for a do-it-all ski as I'll be 50/50 park/all-mtn. Also worth mentioning I ski on the east coast (PA). My main concerns are durability and I also want a ski that is gonna hold up well at high speeds. I've heard some durability issues with the edges on the ARV. Also heard that the Vandal can get sketchy at high speeds. The Kartel would be the clear cut favorite if not for such a big rocker and the fact that I'll ski plenty of ice and crappy conditions of PA. How much of a concern is that aggressive rocker in shitty conditions? Throw out some opinions and help me make a decision, thanks!
I currently ride the line chronics. They are a very good ski and i am exactly like you i ski 50/50 park-all mountain. They have a rocker but not too agressive. They are perfect for both all mountain and park in my opinion. And they hold up well. I am skiing a pair of 2013 line chronics and i only hwve 4 edge cracks after a bunch of rail riding.
ARV 96 isn't a great ski at very high speeds, at least on West coast type ice, it's very good at a lot of things but if you prioritize speed you might find it lacking in hard pack.
