What is your worst experience/feeling ever in skiing, what is your best?

I'm just wondering the worst or best experience everyone has had while skiing. This can be anything from a funny memory or a brand new trick learned. Feel free to elaborate too.

My best still is the first 360 I ever landed.
My worst is when my bud broke his ski and couldn't ski with me the rest of the day.

had a really deep day of skiing with one of my best friends a few years ago thats like one of the proudest moments

and that same season i destroyed my ankle first run on an epic bluebird pow day with a ton of friends that were back from school and wanted to ski.

It took me an entire year (my mountain didn't have a terrain park) to land a 360. The work and pain I put into this accomplishment made it the best experience ever. Not just for skiing.

One of the worst experiences I had was this trip I took with two kids who were younger than me. We stayed at his sisters place in Portland and drove up to Timberline. I had some brownies to help me get that extra air time in the park. Fucking three runs into the ski weekend this kid breaks his leg on a 15 ft jump. Weekend over and I have to drive back to Portland after paying for my ticket and taking three runs.

Best was skiing a super gnarly untracked line on a pow day called Northwest Passage just out of the gates at JH. Several huge no-fall zones and spots where a small sluff slide could wipe you right off the map.

Worst was in the Midwest when I witnessed a snowboarder overshoot a 40 foot jump about 70 feet deep to flat. The sound of his body just getting crushed by the ground is burned into my mind. I heard he was initially alive but passed away on the way to the hospital. Dude had 4 kids and a wife.

Best: First 3 or first front swap pretz 2 stomped clean
Worst: Seeing a kid overshoot a 50ft jump and screaming from the bottom of his lungs. He pretty much snapped his leg in half.. That was during my first run of the day and I got scared to do anything

I am 29 for reference. I still remember throwing my first 360 of a 40+ foot jump at loon when I was in high school age 16. That was a big moment for me. I remember learning rodeos soon after. The feeling of floating through the air on a corked trajectory is just amazing. Busting a rodeo 5 of a 70 foot jump is still the most exhilarating feeling I will ever experience.

Fast forward to 14 years of 50+ day seasons for probably a total of over 1000 days on snow. And it is still a great hobby. But my body can't handle aggressive park skiing, I am just not in the shape I used to be. Finding ways to continually enjoy a sport in which I continually see my Physical performance decline is frustrating. This combined with the reliance on the sport on weather which is becoming more and more uncooperative. Makes me kind of wish I had invested less time in skiing and more time in hobbies not reliant on weather and hucking my body into low orbit.

Best is probably when I started stomping backies that actually looked half good.

Worst is when I was in a freeride (big mtn) comp in kh, fell on my first hit, went too low for my second hit (second year in a row ive done that) then fell skiing out of the bottom in perfect fucking light. Whenever I think about it i feel like shit

Best: skiing over the top of tiger tail to pearly gates which was completely untracked and waist deep. Long steep fall line bottomless powder turns

Worst: on Sunday when I was standing in line with 4 people but the snowboarder ahead of me seems to be going by himself. Think, whatever, lots of people in line, I'll move up with him. He goes forward to catch the chair, and so do I and my girlfriend. But wait, he was catching the chair with 3 people waiting already. Now there are 6 people in front of this chair and the liftee has to stop the lift. Feel like the complete Jerry I am.

Stomped a backflip on a 40 ft jump at momentum, felt pretty good especially cuz I’m 12.
Worst feeling is when ur sending a floaty 3 or 5 and your looking for the landing and see the knuckle, then hit the knuckle perfectly and just stop on the tabletop (rip ankles)

Worst, getting on the ski bus in 4th grade and somebody fucked up the list and they didn't have a ticket for me and made me get off and go home. I cried super hard. Fuck you!!!

It makes me sad even thinking about it. Those we dark times. And this stupid fucking cunt made fun of me at school the next day because I looked like I was gonna cry. Obviously said I wasn't, but totally cried the whole drive home.

Motherfuckers goofed and stole my skiing. We only got to go like 5 days a year too. Local hill went bankrupt again and we bused 45 min to another mtn. Dope they did it, and obviously it wasn't as cheap, but missing one of those days hurt pretty bad.

They handed me my skis back and were like "get fucked kid" pretty much. People are cold as fuck. If I was a chaperone(lololololol yeah right) and that happened I would have pooled in a few bucks with the other teachers and just gotten the stupid fucking kid a ticket. I guess after dealing with kids all day, teachers dig seeing weekend tears from the childrens. Sick fucks.

Went from snowboarding 2 skiing and took a trip up to Stevens after 4ft of snow in a week. Left the poles in the rental shop looked for baby ass cliffs off hogs n senter. Realized this was what I wanted to do. Or when you go ski a week straight n you hit this zen mode -- that's pretty dope. Worst was fasho dislocating my patella a month ago lol

Best:
-Landing my first try tricks on the first try. The cork 7 and the d-spin 7 were 10 years in the making.
-Deepest days of my life. You feel like a superhero.
-Being miles from people, in beautiful and scenic locations that people cant reach.

Worst:
Seeing my best buddy being loaded in the ambulance with life threatening concussion.
Route finding down an avalanche zone to safety
The second a jump goes wrong on take off, the rest is pure dread.

My best experience ever was when i finally stomped a 720. I ski Canaan Valley WV and weather has prevented us from having good parks for the last two years (which is when i started to get into park skiing) so this year finally we had a good park. The year before I had tried a 720 multiple times and could never pull one around due to small jumps. When i went into this run I didn't tell anyone i was going for it because that usually bugs me out so when i landed it my friend saw it and went ballistic and we both were jumping and screaming. The addrenaline is what made it the best because all that hard work payed off in the end.

My worst experience was when in 2nd grade a tourist cut in front of me and their ski pole went about an inch beneath my eye and i wasn't wearing goggles. I was small and this was the kind of dude who thinks the harder you push with your poles the faster you go and he just decked me. i still have the white gloves that are now blood stained from the inch deep hole in my face. I was very lucky i didnt lose an eye to that dumb motherfucker. The only thing that comes close was when this year some poor kid paralyzed himself by shattering his spine on a camel jump.

Don't make fun of me for being a racer (I'm actually not a douche, unlike others) but I got 2nd in a race, and even though i didn't get 1st, the feeling is amazing. Worst was crashing so hard I threw up (no concussion)

best: spring days with the boys trying new stuff and actually landing stuff

worst: seeing a little kid send a little jump and landing on the flat. he was screaming and blood was everywhere. when ski patrol got there we had to look for the kids teeth. no one tried anything the rest of the night. he did live but had popped a lung broke both legs and jaw and his heart stopped in the ski patrol shack thing. had to get airlifted to a hospital. everyone was freaked out the rest of the night

Best was back in like 07 at steamboat it snowed 8 feet in a week. I saw this group of kids headed out the canyon gate and just hiked behind them at the end of the hike we all smoked weed and I became part of their hd filming cliff hucking crew. At the very bottom of nostrils there is a big hit on the skiers right side. I didn't used to ski with contacts in and I cant see for shit without glasses. Anyway im on top of this line "im the only one" and this dude is just pointing with his poles but like I said I can't see shit at any rate I think it's like a ski down the face to a 20 footer type sitch but when I role off the edge it is like a 45 ft double but I don't even touch the pillow I just take it all the way to a huge white room stomped landing and before I can even see I here the boys giving me the oooooooooo. Skied out of it clean AF and role up to the crew collect pole clinks and bounce. Funny to think they had it on footie and I never saw it.

Worst was 2 years later getting arrested in ski boots at steamboat for skiing for 70 days on my pass after I got it taken for the season. I got a new one printed 20 Minutes after I got escorted to the base and it didn't get caught for like 3 months they were pissseeddd!

The worst isn't any specific time I can recall, but skiing through a spicy line and knowing that you're about to fall, hard. That split second feeling of helplessness really sucks.
Best experience would probably have to be skiing with my dad again. He is the reason I love skiing, and the reason I'm on the career path I am. For about six years he couldn't ski due to a serious health issue, and was not sure if he would ever be able to ski again. Now, in two weeks we're spending a week skiing Big Sky, my first time skiing there and his first time back since leaving in the 80's. Couldn't be happier.

i think after today, coming back outside after taking a 4 minute piss break in the lodge to discover your new skis were stolen is probably the worst experience in skiing thus far besides life-altering injuries or death.

its just fucked up that resorts use the excuse that "we cant police everyone" when theyre just too cheap to install at the very least some security cameras. where my skis were stolen had like 1 camera that was pointed of course in the opposite direction of the ski racks.

it was more of a tabletop but the middle had been carved out so it looked like a camels back. the ice that morning was so bad that the rail jam that was scheduled was cancel (was pissed about that). the rails had frozen rain on them so it took a while to get in the groove. the kid went off the front side and it was so fucked up he went about 10 feet straight in the air before he came back down onto what was basically an ice dome. his bloody scream was what haunts me to this day, because you just just here his shear terror and pain come into hear shot. the worst part, as he was being carried away by ski patrol, i heard him scream/cry "Where are my legs". fucking brutal.
