The world is a pretty scary place at the moment as hate and death continue to flood our news, eyes, and ears every second of every day. We are raising awareness for LOVE by fundraising for authentic and empowering charities. We are emphasizing the fact that we are all HUMANS and underneath our skin, we are all the same.
Join Nick Lawson as he runs solo from the Southernmost tip to the northernmost tip of Africa, journeying up the East coast and through 23 countries. He will make the journey the whole way alone, but he will never be alone because the whole world will be joining him in some way. Humans from every country on this planet will join him.

People love controversy. They're already behind him, so there's no use arguing with him or pointing out he is wrong on his platform. The people who have aligned themselves with him have already made up their mind.
I think it's good you've called him out, it's crazy that he is finding validation in that though.

On another note Djibouti has no proven reserves of oil, coal, or natural gas.. soooo yes there is a military presence there, but it's not entirely based on oil. I'm guessing it's because the region is extremely dangerous.
Also, USA consumes approximately 19 million barrels of oil a day and produces around 12 million barrels a day. The other ~7 million has to come from somewhere, Canada is actually the largest producer of US imported crude.
So, the military presence in the middle east, specifically Saudi Arabia, is mostly to provide support for the region. This goes back to an agreement made by the Nixon administration and Saudi Arabia in the 70s. The goal of the agreement was to keep oil price from being used as an economic weapon (post 1973 oil crisis). I can post sources, or more information if you'd like.

I went off on a bit of a tangent, but I guess my point is that this guy has a very narrow view of what's actually going on in the world. Without the military presence in the middle east there is a good chance things would be far worse, potentially so bad that he wouldn't be fortunate enough to visit.

You completed a more athletic event by riding a scooter for 50k in Thailand that this dude has his entire trip. But he's going to bring world peace and take down the military industrial complex, so I guess he's got ya beat.

what the guy is doing is flat out wrong because it undermines the integrity of people that do legitimate humanitarian work. this guy ain’t helping nobody or doing anything to effect change, he is simply on a holiday smoking way too much pot. i hope this type of stuff doesn’t set a precedent for ppl scamming others out of money to go on holidays

I should run a marathon while chugging a beer at every mile marker. Maybe without shoes, without clothes, blindfolded, juggling knives.

Maybe not that much, but I feel like I should try and one up him once a week. That said my knees and brain are pretty shot which is why I stopped running years ago. I might have one marathon in me. I'd have to make it count lol

I'm down to fly to Africa and get drunk for free while saving the world. Maybe I'll talk to my boss and see if I can schedule some time. Humanity needs this. Saving the planet with love is the most important thing.

I guess that only American chauvinist pigs own guns, and nobody in African has one.

Also it is weird that he is keep making it out that the price of goods are expensive in Africa where he is due to the military presence there. FYI where he is in is on the very bottom of the Human Development Index list, and 90 percent of the women there have gone thru FGM.
