I remember this 10k race when i was 11 or 12. I tweaked my knee a bit and ended up walking the last 3rd. I felt like such a piece of shit. In a running race walking. I was embarrassed even though shit happens. That said I didn't campaign trying to get people to invest 500k in me running. I guess I ran because I liked running and not to spread the love though so that's probably my fault. Also always went running in shoes. Also Murica not Somalia

well if you saw the expense list that he put out when he was originally trying to get 500k on his go fund me, he wanted 100k for a doctor (whom most likely would have offered their services for free or at a small cost if he had planned it out well and contacted organizations such as doctors without borders or other NGOs, and he could have made it where the doctors just were not for him, but they would also be providing their medical services to ppl in the places he was visiting). again if he planned this out, he could of actually done something productive by having a doctor provide their services to the ppl he was visiting in the cities he was "running in". so trying to find a doctor that would have offered their services on a volunteering basis could have actually given this project some legitimacy

he also wanted 100k to pay for a social media team. which was most likely OP, as he is the one that produced the run for love video. it seems like OP and Nick were in cahoots and was trying to get rich off this little bullshit scam

he also wanted 200k for on the ground expenses?? which would be most likely going to be used for him to sit in bars and drink as he is not running, and buying tattoos

A) Honestly and naively believed he would follow through, and didn't realize how stupid and unrealistic his goal was until he started, and didn't have the cajones to own up to it and instead it just devolved into a vacation.

B) Fully intended on just using this as a vacation fund from the start, and knew that if he was upfront that this would never fly. The only way you get donations like that is to tap into people's sense of do-goodery and wrap it in a bunch of feel-good nonsense to get donations. Nobody decides to just fund your vacation, but if you promise to ChAnGe thE WOrLd they will.

Whether this is a case of A or B I can't tell, but in either case this dude is a naive idiot, or just a flat out asshole. My money is on A, honestly.

The running costs nothing, but I do like my wine. Maybe not 500k worth but might need like 1500 for flight and wine. Shelter is irrelevant if you're drunk enough. But could probably squeak it in there.

I'm wearing shoes though.
